it was an accident how I stumbled upon 1780 but what a happy one it was! I had been searching for food( dinner) for a lil over and hour and time was running short so on a last minute whim I popped into 1780...I had a lovely lil seat looking out to rose street the ambiance was cozy and serene..I loved the way the wooden floor creeked beneath your feet when walking thru the restaurant - I had a wonderful starter of pork belly and black pudding ( ?) and the Lamb as a main....was PERFECT - execution and flavor was on point the service though by far was what would bring me back Lukasz was super informative with the dishes to help ensure I could eat GF and he was also very kind to answer all my questions about the history of the name of the restaurant - Rose street and various other novelties about Edinburgh...was all around just a lovely experience fabulous food as well as service THANK YOU 1780 !!!!!! Ill refer and return!

Came in Thursday night table of two, we had booked for 7 we're promptly sat by a lovely waitress, the food was amazing, for starters I had the pinenut and spinach rissotto and it was out of this world my mates had the scallops and these were cooked to perfection, I had the lamb that was cooked perfectly the anchovies worked really well with it and was very smartly presented my friend had the salmon this also looked lovely, didn't stay for deserts but the four courses we did have were amazing will definitely be back soon.

We called in for an afternoon drink, to sample some fine beers. Guidas who was behind the bar was so informative and we sampled some stouts. Which were lovely. Particularly the salted caramel Chew Chew stout.

We went back for our evening meal, which was delicious. Ox Cheeks, Haggis and neeps and tatties. And a recommended red rioja by the lively Guidas.

The sweets were to die for

We arrived in Edinburgh for my husbands birthday on Friday and found this bar on the beautiful Rose Street...it was a real find and I cannot recommend this place highly enough...from the amazing and informative staff...especially Guidas whose passion and enthusiasm really makes this place special,his knowledge and drive for local produce and small handmade bespoke artisan brewers was very infectious and made us want to know more...we will definitely be back when next in Edinburgh!

We arrived early for our table, greeted by friendly staff who informed us we wouldn't be seated on time due to an issue in the kitchen, we were in no rush so enjoyed a beer while we waited. We were aloud to sit where we wanted and it was so quiet and peaceful. Our food was delivered quickly after order.

We ordered steak which was cooked perfectly, and the choice of sauces was a nice touch, the sides were delicious too. The beer available is vast and there are plenty to try.

I would definitely recommend this wee place for dinner - it's a great wee place.

Was here tonight. Food was outstanding, steak was cooked to perfection. The desert was a crumble and not really what we were expecting but it was amazing, so was better than expected. Staff were also friendly and helpful even though there was a miscommunication with our groupon voucher. Will definitely recommend

Possibly the best fish and chips we have ever had and that includes Anstruther and Rogano, super friendly staff and great lager too. We will return very soon.

Loved the juicy, tasty Sirloin Steak with the skins on chips and the very tasty vine tomatoes, bought on an itson deal, but well worth the money and the staff were good. Will come back

Fantastic meal in a great atmospheric restaurant and bar.tge meal was fabulous and the service excellent. We had sirloin steaks which were fine to perfection and were succulent.our Italian wine was lovely and really well priced.

Discovered this lovely little Gastro pub on our first visit to Edinburgh and we both had the 8oz ribeye steak which was lovely. Washed down with a nice beer and a glass of red wine. Will def recommend to anyone coming to Edinburgh and we hope to visit again next time we up there x

Delicious sausage and mash! After touring Edinburgh for 2 days and having multiple different foods, 1780 was a great place to spend our last night in this gorgeous town! Even all the High school kids loved the food. Thank you!

Came across 1780 last Saturday after the rugby was a so glad that we found it. Had the fish (which just melted in your mouth) and chips and was not disappointed, place was clean warm and very friendly service, would definitely recommend and looking forward to my next visit

Been to Edinburgh a few times and have been to a few places i thought was ok, so earlier today when me and my partner and son came in we thought we could get a ok bite too each, its a great little setting this restaurant has and the food was delicious by far the best fish i have had in Edinburgh, my partner had a chicken burger and it was equally delicious the salsa and cheese mix was superb and she isn't a cheese lover. Our waitress Maeva/Meava i think thats how you spell her name was first class very friendly always smiling and enthusiastic quality addition to your restaurant added to the setting and quality meal. Will be back next time we are through in Edinburgh thanks for having us.

Nice enough. On the bit of expensive side. 2 drinks £10. Nice touch with a few bits of fruit in but felt like I had paid for fruit too. Stairwell down to toilets are to narrow. But it's is a very nice looking bar.
