West Lothian Council are saying :
Support those who use their cars to help their communities If you are using your own car for voluntary purposes to transport medicines or groceries to support others who are impacted by Covid-19, your insurance cover will not be affected. You do not need to contact your insurer to update your documents or extend your cover.

How can people with a limited budget prepare in case they need to self-isolate when they do not have much money? We are being asked this a lot. We would love if you could share any suggestions and tips. You can private message us if you want us to post up your suggestions. THANK YOU

Hi everyone πŸ˜€
Hope you are all doing ok and staying safe.
It is an extremely difficult and testing time at the moment, and boredom can kick in quite easily. We would love to hear what activities you are doing to keep yourself and little ones entertained.
... It can be hard, but we need to try and look for the positives in each day. This will end, and when it does, we will be so much more appreciative of all the things we once took for granted.
Please message 1st Step if you are struggling or just need to chat and someone will get back to you. πŸ˜€
Here's a link I found for a website that has great ideas for kids: https://zoella.co.uk/…/how-to-keep-kids -entertained-during…/

Support for key workers and others supporting vulnerable people
We are not open for training courses. However, we will be doing our best by fixing bikes that have been donated and matching them to people who need them right now to help them support others in need. If you are a key worker or need your bike to support others and your bike needs minor repairs we will also try our best to fix it up for you so that you are able to continue.
If you have a bike you would like to ...donate or want to contact us for a bike, repair or to ask a question please message us on Facebook or call 07869381382
There are a few guidelines we ask that you follow-
You MUST contact us to make an appointment to drop your bike off/ collect your bike. We will insist that only one person at a time comes with a bike and social distancing is respected at all times. We will spray down all bikes with disinfectant on arrival and collection of the completed bike. We will re assess the situation at the end of each day and make any changes required. We have taken this decision in light of 1st Step values and commitment to help people in need in our communities.

PLEASE MESSAGE US WITH QUESTIONS AND IDEAS Following the latest advice we have taken the sad decision to suspend the recovery meeting and Cafe from TOMORROW at the Longcroft Hall In Linlithgow. Please let all your friends and family know that the recovery meeting and cafe will NOT be open tomorrow.
We are not able to meet at the cafe but that does not mean we can't stay in touch on the phone, email, FB, support people who might need help or even start up a virtual recovery... group.
We want to explore other ways of helping people stay safe and supported. Please message us with your ideas and suggestions. We will also be phoning lots of you to ask how we can all stay in contact and encourage people who may need help to reach out.
We will be monitoring the situation and will keep you up to date with the ideas that people are suggesting through regular FB postings.
Stay Safe

Hi everyone,
The 1st Step Recovery Group and Cafe are still on for this Tuesday πŸ˜€ We want to talk about the Coronavirus at the Cafe this week and about how we can keep our community STRONG and SUPPORTED over the next few weeks, so please do come along tomorrow if you are able to.
... However, people who are coming along need to pay close attention to the NHS advice about how to avoid spreading COVID 19 here: https://nhsinform.scot/coronavirus
If you have a new cough or a fever you should definitely not attend. If you have any underlying health issues then please think very carefully about whether you want to come. If you cannot make it to either the meeting or cafe, do not worry as we will keep you updated on Facebook.
We all want to do our bit to take care of ourselves, each other and the wider community. As we all know, some of the people who come to the cafe have a number of health conditions, or know people that do, and we all want to do everything we can to keep each other safe.
If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Stay safe.

The 1st Step Cycle club will start up again next Thursday 19th March at 1000am from the Linlithgow Recycling centre. All abilities welcome but we would particularly like to encourage people who have not been on a bike for a while ( or never learnt to ride) and would like some coaching. We may be able to provide some one to one encouragement! Please message us for more information or if you have questions.
