2 Mennie Cooks Ltd is an agricultural consultancy business based on our farm near Inverurie, Aberdeenshire. Directors are Peter Cook and Lynne Mennie. Peter is in summary an analyst, adviser and facilitator (and a fermer). We work with all sizes and types of client from individual farmers through to the EU Commission. That range of client base is central to our ethos - understanding the real pressures on farms and rural areas means we can can work more effectively for industry organisations and policy makers. And vice versa. Peter's work matches that mix - business reviews for farms, appraising investments such as farm purchases, sitting down with farm families to negotiate and design succession plans, facilitating Monitor Farm and Business Group programmes, strategic reviews for local Government, evaluation of the CAP Rural Development Programme for national and EU authorities, analysing markets and legislation e. g. the tenancy sector. We like the fact that we can be working with a farmer one day and working on an EU policy project the next. In fact we think that mix is very important. Our big push at the moment is in the design of farming systems that can be profitable with less or no subsidy support.

We also farm in Aberdeenshire (P & L Cook and Partners) specialising in sheep and malting barley. Peter is a director of Aberdeen Grain Ltd, a farmers co-op.
