It's is our birthday! We are 100 years on the 24th February. Our Scout Group was founded on 24th February 1919.
Over the coming 12 months there will be lots of special Centenary events taking place to celebrate this milestone in our history.

Notice of Annual General Meeting I am pleased to invite you to the Annual General Meeting of the 29th Glasgow (1st Newlands) Scout Group, which will be held on Wednesday, 6th February 2019 at 7:30 p.m. in the Scout Halls.
Parents and guardians of youth members are entitled to attend this meeting when we review our financial position and... appoint the Group Executive Committee for the coming year. The business of the evening will finish no later than 8:30 p.m. but members of the Group Executive Committee will be around thereafter and will be delighted to meet and chat with you.
Many of the parents who currently sit on our Executive Committee no longer have children in Scouts but have remained to help with running the Group. As we celebrate the Group’s Centenary in 2019 it is now appropriate for the committee to be re-energised with parents of current youth members who can take the Group forward with a fresh outlook and new ideas. Accordingly, our current committee is looking for volunteers to join them and assist in shaping the Group for the future. We are especially interested in hearing from people with the following skill sets:
• Book-keeping/accounting; • Fundraising; • Project Management; • Experience in using communication technologies, including social media, to help develop communication strategies with parents and promote fund raising events.
Parents and guardians from all sections are welcome to ensure a fair representation of the needs of the Group.

Congratulations to Andrew G. from our Tuesday Cub section, who has won our Centenary badge competition. Andrew's design was selected by all the Section Leaders and will now be used as the basis for the final Centenary badge.
The Centenary badge will be given to all members of the Scout Group towards the end of February for them to wear on their uniforms.
Well done Andrew!

A big thank you to all the leaders, scouts, parents and helpers who came along today to support our Christmas Fair.
We have managed to raise £2,800 towards the running costs of the group (the amount today is roughly one sixth of what we need to find annually). We have raised £300 more than last year's Fair.
So a big big thank you to everyone who has been involved with this year's Christmas Fair.
