Never fear, we are here to restore balance! You don't necessarily need to bust out the heavy moisturisers in the colder months. It's all about layering hydration. A few drops of your favourite facial oil (psst our Ready to Wear oil is now in our online shop!) in your regular moisturiser or an extra layer of hyaluronic acid will all help comfort your complexion.

Friday's here - we made it! Hope you all have a brilliant weekend!

First of all it's worth taking a look at your skin to see if it's dry or in fact seems congested. If it looks flakey or feels tight then looking current routine and seeing if anything might be causing dryness - over-exfoliation or using harsh cleansers are possible culprits! Always best to cut the problem out at source where possible. Depending on your skin type, a nourishing oil might be a good bet for treating the affected area, or a gentle, topical healing cream like La Ro...che Posay's Cicaplast Baume B5. Both affordable, readily available and effective options! If it's congested the redness can be inflammation - this is a tougher nut to crack but, gentle effective cleansing and using products that help with this like salicylic acid can absolutely help.

If indeed they are milia (small, white spots on the surface of the skin caused by trapped dead skin cells) then acid exfoliation with an AHA or BHA product can help by gently removing the top layer of skin to encourage regeneration. It's also worth checking your heavier moisturisers - particularly eye creams - to see if they are causing the outbreak.
Switching to a lighter product could stop them appearing in the first place!

This was gifted to me from my children for my Birthday. Jo was very friendly and made me feel at ease. Explained everything that was going to be happening and just to relax and enjoy the experience. The treatment room was very calming and the bed very relaxing. I am a chatterbox but chose not to chat and just enjoy the pampering. As soon as Jo put her hands onto my face I got lost in the hour long luxury pampering session. It was amazing. and I came out with a glow about me. Jo is fantastic at what she does and I will definitely return for a further treatment from her..

I visited Lorna twice on the run up to my wedding and would recommend a signature facial to anyone who needs a treat and to really give their skin some TLC. You get some really great advice on how to up your skincare regime and because they don't push one specific brand, and don't sell the products, you actually feel like you're receiving genuine, no-strings-attached advice. The products recommended for me ranged from £7-£25 and my skin is the least congested it has ever been. I'm also using less product and spending less money than before. The facial itself is the most relaxing experience! If anyone is feeling a bit run-down and stressed before the wedding this is the way to relax :) Thanks so much Lorna, I'll be back! X

I have just had the most relaxing facial with the lovely Lorna. What a calm, soothing environment! I really like that the treatment is tailored to your specific needs and a wide range of products is used.My skin feels great! I had my first Signature Microcurrent Facial with Lorna last week. My whole experience was excellent and actually surpassed all of my expectations!

I was excited (and maybe a bit apprehensive!) to try this new facial for the first time - but Lorna was so knowledgeable and had such a calming presence that I already felt so relaxed as soon as I'd walked through the 33Dowanhill doors!

My facial was amazing and included lots of relaxing manual facial massage, as well as the Microcurrent element. Lorna also gave me lots of ideas and product recommendations to incorporate into my own routine at home.

After my appointment, I could really see and feel a difference in my skin straight away - I can't wait for my next facial with Lorna!

I had a signature facial with Lorna as a gift from a generous friend. It’s my second time. My skin feels more toned and conditioned. What I particularly like is that 33 Dowanhill recommend individualised products for your skin, not from any particular range. My moisturiser was only £12, very reasonable.

I decided at the start of the year I wanted to sort my skin out as I was getting married in September and turning 30. I decided to seek advice from my wedding MUA, Cat, who advised I book in for the Bridal package with Jo. I'm so glad she did as going for my facials and the chats I had with Jo were my favourite and the most relaxing part of wedding planning! They were my first proper facials and they were incredible!



Between the facials and my new skincare regime (all recommended by Jo) it has made such a difference to my skin. It definitely helped me feel much more confident at the wedding and I'm now going without makeup a lot more often now. I've had friends comment on how good my skin is looking!



The whole experience, from arriving and having a good chat with Jo, to the facial itself, all feels really special. Jo is such a friendly person who goes above and beyond for her clients (replying to lots of emails about products, etc). Hands down the best facial and skincare advice I’ve ever had, Jo is also so lovely and welcoming, and also really sensitive to the individual needs of your skin. The difference in my skin is amazing, and I’ve learnt so much from about the unique care that my skin requires- things I would never have been told at a beauty counter in a department store. What I love the most about Jo is that not once has she ever tried to sell me a product, the products she recommends are from all different companies which she has no business attachment to, so you can totally trust that you are only being recommended something because it really is suitable for you and will give you what your skin needs.

Hands down the best facial I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing - the facial massage was a real treat, completely relaxing and rejuvenating both at once. Jo is a genius, tailoring all the products to suit my skin and I love that she's not stuck on pushing one brand, she has a whole range and genuinely uses the ones she feels best for you.

Fabulous place! I had the best facial from Lorna who was so welcoming, calm and knowledgable. My skin was glowing when I left and Lorna gave me good advice for going forward. The salon itself is lovely with a chilled vibe. All in, a very special experience.
