Last week we said farewell to our Officer Commanding, Flying Officer Alex Griffin, as he starts his commercial flying training. We made sure that he left with a few gifts that would help his training get off to a good start. One of our cadets even baked a fantastic RAF themed cake!
Fg Off Griffin transferred to 870 (Dreghorn) Squadron as a Cadet Flight Sergeant before becoming adult staff. After two years as the Squadron Adjutant he took on the role of Officer Commanding.
Thank you for all of your hard work at the squadron and all the very best with your training!

A huge congratulations to FS Goulding on his promotion to Warrant Officer last night! This is the culmination of many years of hard work and dedication to the Squadron in a wide range of areas. Very well deserved. Well done WO Goulding!

In December we said farewell to CI David Stanger who retired from the Squadron after 34 years of service. David made a huge difference to the Sqn helping in all areas from supervising the construction of our Rampaging Chariots, robot comps, classification training, AT and much more. We thank you very much for your dedication and commitment to 870 over the decades! We also invited some former 870 Sqn Staff and Cadets to see David off, dating back to the 1980's! A great catch up had by all.

A good turnout of 29 cadets and 6 staff from 870 Sqn at the Remembrance Service earlier today at St John’s Colinton Mains Church. Many thanks to the church for welcoming us on this important day. Also a well done to those representing the Squadron at the National Remembrance Service at the City Chambers.

A couple of weeks back we were very fortunate to have the amazing Drew McAdam spend an evening with us, and over the course of the evening he showed us how to "make the impossible, possible".
As well as destroying our cutlery in a variety of ways, Drew also read minds, baffled us with puzzles and finally explained how we could all improve our memories for everyday tasks.
A big thanks to Drew from all of us at 870 for a parade night that will live long in our... memories.😉

Great effort at the inter-Squadron cross-country today where 870 Sqn came 1st overall in the competition taking away some silverware for the trophy cabinet. Very well done to all who took part!🏆🥇
