The woman was very helpful. Done all the measuring. Though they didnt have the tartan available that I asked for, in fairness I left it late. (Burns night coming up.) She suggested a kilt that fitted perfectly with the burns evening. The reason I gave it 4 out of 5 is you need two pieces of i.d. and I think if you have your driving licence with you it ought to be sufficient.

Heard a few horror stories from this place. But only now have I sadly been a victim of one.

First, I always found the older lady that works there quite charming. I don't mean that as a compliment. I mean in a “she is so rude, she is funny” kind of way.

No matter when you book a kilt, if it's for next week or next year. You'll be told it's “very last minute or far too late” only for her to walk over to a desk and present a tape measure and take your measurements only a few seconds later. Be prepared for the fact that she will huff and puff the entire time. As if you (The customer) had the gall to walk into a kilt shop and ask for a kilt. As if you presented her with a choir. Not even a hand choosing your outfit with her years of experience.

Do I want a 3 button or 5 button waistcoat?

Not a scooby.

A simple recommendation would have been very helpful, even if it was just all jargon. It was something.

You can try your best to find a more approachable employee, but you won't get very far unless you're fluent in pigeon English. As most of the employees have almost always been Polish as far back as I can remember.

The entire experience has finally made me realise what a few people have said about A1 Kilts as a shop. A company that continues to operate in “Keith Scott” 's shadow.

My experience with A1 Kilt Hire was fantastic. Everything arrived on time and in order and well packed. The kilt I received was amazing - pure quality. That was the same with the sporen, shoes, waistcoat, jacket and all the accessories....all at a really good price. Would I recommend them...Absolutely!

They are lucky to get one star. Were not given the correct length kilts or the correct jackets. Not only this, all items were returned to which they said a waistcoat was not. They refused to give back the deposit even though they provided a poor service in the first place and all items were returned. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
