Awful shop. Some nice staff, but management rude and unhelpful. I bought a cat scratching post there earlier this year, and came to realise that my cat wasn't using it, hence why she had reverted to scratching up my furniture! I realised that she wasn't using it as the base, which is round, was not heavy enough, or wide enough so it just toppled over when she scratched on it. This product is therefore not fit for purpose (under the Sale of Goods Act 2015), which I explained when I tried to return it and exchange for a larger more sturdy post (which I was wiling to pay the extra for), but they refused to offer an exchange just because 'I had changed my mind'! Avoid.

The attitude of the staff in this shop is beyond belief in this day and age. I stopped into the store to have a look after buying something in the adjacent pet supplies shop and was given disapproving looks and even comments for having bought something at their competitors! Really cringeworthy.
Just imagine if the retailers in Princes Street did the same!!!

to the lady about the cat!!! ignorant, the people in the pet shop are so helpfull, paul the manager has been nothing but accomodating in regards with any problems i have had, i call him if i have a problem with any of my animals, AND HE IS MORE THAN WELCOME TO HELP, im a fish, spider and snake owner

Dissapointing: I recently went into this shop for the first time, since I have just re-homed a cat. I had just been into the pet shop next door to have a look and bought a cat bed which I was carrying with me when I went into A1 pet stores. On seeing it under my arm the woman behind the counter said “I hope you didn’t buy that from next door!” Embarrassed by this remark, I replied “Oh yes, sorry” to which she then ranted “Oh from the Asians next door who are stealing our business!” Needless to say I felt very uncomfortable and angry and left without buying anything. Rest assured I will never set foot in A1 Pet shop again.
