Really friendly staff and an excellent Scottish breakfast. Rooms are spacious and cleaned every day. A five minute walk from the town centre makes this an excellent hotel for the price. Only issue was the noise at night - gulls cause a racket and somebody left a radio on all night, went straight through the earplugs!
Really nice place to stay. I stayed in a single room and the bed was amazingly comfortable. The best couple of nights sleep in a long time!
The breakfasts are great too, unfortunately I don't have much of an appetite in the morning but the neighbouring tables looked great.
The owner is helpful and knowledgeable about the area, happy to help find events on that evening. The resident dogs are brilliant too.
My room had a lovely view across the bowling green. The bathroom had both a shower and a bath, and the bedroom was equipped with an iron, kettle (with plentiful supplies for tea and coffee, with biscuits!), Lamp, plenty of plugs to charge devices, a small TV with freeview and a sink. Everything you possibly need, along with free wi-fi.
It was much more pleasant staying here than a Travelodge. The building had personality and a sense of comfort. I highly recommend staying if you fancy a couple of days in Dumfries on your own.

Absolutely disgusting. I don't know where the good reviews have come from unless they have been written by themselves! ! As soon as you walk into the building your hit with a vile smell of a mixture of smoke and dirt. Unfortunately we had the opportunity of looking in the kitchen whilst trying to find someone, I suggest that you don't look if you're planning to eat there, it clearly hasn't been cleaned or had an inspection for quite some time. Even upon entering the bedroom the smell of smoke was clearly evident. The room was filthy but at least the bedding was clean. The shower room was thick with grime, nothing a little bleach and elbow grease couldn't sort out though I might add! And as for the bedroom where do I start, some one clearly places tea & coffee on the side and ignores all the dirt that has accumulated over the years under the glass. Breakfast well if you like the cheapest products money can buy eat your heart out! Maybe the dirt in the kitchen adds a little flavour.
