Heya guys, I have been asked to share the undernoted information which is directed at Forensic Science students. Let me know if you would be interested.
We’re looking for 2 Forensic Science students (any year group) to assist Police Scotland with hosting an event as part of the Cyber Security Challenge at the University of the West of Scotland on Monday 27th November, from 10am – 2.30pm. Your travel expenses will be covered and each student will be given an Amazon voucher.
T...he brief that we have received from Police Scotland is: · Cyber Security Challenge 2017 - 27 November from 10 – 2.30pm at University of the West of Scotland, Paisley. 40 secondary school children aged 14-16yrs (S3-S5), top scorers from Cyber Security competitions across Scotland. They will be split into 5 groups of 8, and rotate around the five different workshops (Police Scotland, Boeing, BT, SmartSTEMS and Coderdojos). Following each activity the group will be scored out of 10 (each workshop provider will decided scoring criteria). At the end of the event the group with the highest overall score, will be the winners of the Cyber Security Challenge event in Scotland (no further stages). The purpose of the event is to harness Cyber talent amongst young people, encouraging and promoting the opportunities of further education/careers etc.
Although the event is being labelled as Cyber Security, there is also going to be a crime scene element to it as well which the ethical hacking students (2 of them are going as well) are not used to. For example, one of the workshops mentioned earlier will be a mock crime scene set up along with associated paraphernalia. Police Scotland are wanting some forensic science students to accompany the ethical hacking ones to give input to the school children as to how they should deal with a crime scene (packaging, approach, photography, fingerprinting, etc).
It will be an interesting day out and great for people’s CVs and HEAR reports.
