Aboukir Hotel

We visited the Aboukir on Sunday the 12th.of Nov. At around 7pm. We used to live in carnoustie went regularly when owned by the previous owners We were hoping for a couple of drinks and some food .our drinks were fine and my husband then asked if it was possible to look at a menu, we had already seen through to the resturant from the bar ,although there was a birthday party on it didn't look too busy .We were told by the barman that we couldn't have any food as they were short staffed ,that was 7.10pm.on a Sunday night when your open until 11pm.and prob serve food until 9pm. I would have thought .We wouldn't have minded if he'd even said we could have had a bar snack but no we were offered nothing .there were no signs saying private party or anything like that either .while we finished our drinks a waitress came into the bar with a plate of food and sat and ate it at a table behind us .! We can only assume your business is doing amazing when you can afford to turn paying customers away .We are visiting again next month but the aboukir will not be on our visiting list .very poor service .

Good meals and service but I think the kids menu lacks any imagination, my two would have liked smaller portions from the adult menu rather than the limited choice they had which they didn't finish.

Good food excellent staff and great selection of drinks.

Lovely hotel/bar/restaurant in East end of Carnoustie. Was quiet but was a Tuesday evening. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Not a long wait for our meals. Food was really good. We had steak pie, which was brimming with tender meat, battered haddock, and two kids meals which were a generous portion. Good value for money. We will be back.
