Abriachan Cafe Campsite Wester Laide

Brilliant place to have a break on the Great Glen Way! Very welcoming hosts and excellent coffee!

When we first arrived, we did not really realise that this was a campsite. Usually, for a campsite to work, you need as a bare minimum:
1. Flat ground
2. Water.

We had neither of those things, and we were the only people who were even using the campsite to our knowledge.

They have a pig, who apparently likes to try and break into your tent and eat all of your supplies. This led to a sleepless night for my terrified girlfriend, afraid that some monster hog would try to eat her as she slept.
On that topic, there was also pig faeces everywhere, and I really mean everywhere.

TL;DR
You'd be better off wild camping, it is cheaper, more comfortable, and has better facilities.

A wonderful place for having a delicious self-made juice or coffee, cake and other bites. If you hike the Great Glen, you need to stop there, the owners are very friendly and take good care of you. Prices are more than fair. But be aware of the chicken ;-)

These guys were amazing! Sandra is a wonderful host and the site is in a much needed spot at this point along the Great Glen Way! After our long walk from Invermoriston we were delighted to the welcome from Sandra and Squeak the Pig 🐖! The camping is reasonably priced. Please note though that it is Moorland so a bit boggy and a midge heaven as expected. It is also an eco site so also be prepared for the eco toilet! They serve lovely coffee and will provide breakfast with the fresh chicken eggs! A very accomodating and helpful place!! Can not recommended these guys enough and their great attitudes! Also note: ensure you have cash!! Also refill your water at the gate before you treck on to the site!

Such a great experience! Lovely owners, lovely atmosphere, and delicious food and drinks. It being in the middle of the Great Glen Way, far away from any other café or pub, increases both its charm and its attraction. Be sure to stop by!

Loved it. Actually stopped here in Jun 2013. Sandra was an awesome host who fed me and I then spent a comfortable night at one of their campsites. Everything was reasonable. To be fair, appearances are deceiving sometimes. Upon approach things looked a bit rough, but as a hiker I've dealt with worse and as always it is the character of the people who run a place that matters. This would be worth a return visit should I ever wander this way again. Cheers
