Acrewood Nursery

Acrewood Nursery in Stirling is a City Centre Nursery.
We care for children from birth to 5.
We have two rooms 0-3 and 3-5 years.

At Acrewood we have a 0-3 room and a 3-5 room, sometimes the rooms come together to allow a broader spectrum of play experiences and learning outcomes. This also allows for easier transition between rooms when the child is ready to move up.

Each room has its own changing area, snack area and quiet area. The rest of the room is made up of activity areas depending on the interests of the children, the curricular areas or the topic of discussion at that moment in time. There are photographs of children taking part in activities on the walls alongside comments and questions they made.

Children are involved with planning through the floor books and extended questions. They are also involved with Risk assessments and are encouraged to think about “what could happen?” They are also starting to contribute to evaluation through the floor books and are becoming interested in their own next learning steps for their learning journals. Daily group times allow children to feel valued and respected in a small social group and gives them the opportunity to have an influence on their learning as well as actively contributing to the nursery day.
