I was referred to Philip by my NHS dentist when the root of my front tooth which was supporting a Crown for many years cracked.
My NHS dentist had given me a temporary false tooth as a short term option for cosmetic purposes.
I personally felt the solution long term using a single false tooth plate would not be ideal for me.
On my first visit to Philip a thorough examination including x ray was completed and a discussion on what treatment could be provided for me.
I was then sent a email with full details of my treatment plan and costs.
Appointments were made and the procedure for a dental implant began.
Special mention must be made that my treatment began August 2020 when most NHS dental practices were not open for treatments.
Philip and his team must be commended for carrying out all procedures while keeping staff and patients in a safe environment in the middle of a global pandemic.
Throughout my time from having the broken root extracted the healing process then having the implant inserted along with another period of healing the support and advice by Philip was unquestioned.
The state of the art equipment used by Philip along with his working relationship with the Dental Lab used to provide my replacement Tooth which included me personally attending the Dental Lab to ensure correct shading of Tooth is another beneficial part of the process.
Finally on March 2021 I had my final fitting with fantastic results.
I have continued to visit Philip since for ongoing check ups on the work that was completed whilst also visiting Claire (Dental Hygienist) every three months since and after treatment to ensure overall dental health is maintained.
From Philip,Dental Nurse Jenn,Hygienist Clair and Reception Team the professionalism help and friendliest is of the 5 star standard.

I would highly recommend Philip Friel and his team in Hyndland. Philip helped me through a difficult extraction of a chronically infected lower molar followed by careful preparation for an implant. The implant process was straightforward and every stage was explained in detail. I am absolutely delighted with the result and can chew again normally for the first time in over a year. It's amazing what we take for granted. Thank you so much, I'm very grateful indeed - fantastic job.

From start to finish i was at ease with the professionalism that was shown from the receptionist to Philip Friel himself. Alot of work was carried out over a long period of time but the level of communcation was second to none. The time dedicated to the smallest of detail was exceptional and now i can smile with my mouth open.

Having come recommended by a friend, I had dental implants fitted around six years ago by Philip Friel. This was out of necessity, as my root had cracked on a lower crown following treatment for an abcess by another dentist. I was in discomfort every day from having to wear a partial lower denture. Mealtimes, once to be enjoyed, became a thing of trepidation. My confidence also lacked. However, from the initial consultation, I have felt nothing but confidence and admiration for the professionalism of Philip and his highly skilled team. I never once felt pressured into financial decisions or treatments. I attend every year for a routine check up. I can honestly say, it has changed my life for the better.

So far I’ve only had a consultation but Philip was very helpful making me come to a decision about treatment that when I went to other private dental clinics (Berkeley, Scottish centre for dentistry, botanics dental and others) to discuss options they didn’t give me complete answers or talked in circles.

He answered my questions in a down to earth clear and relaxed way. First time I fully accepted what a dentist had told me.

The reception staff were nice, I couldn’t come at the time I booked and they said it wasn’t a problem and got me in later that day. All with a happy attitude.

Also, I get neck pain and hate dentist chairs. The one at the clinic had this wide head rest that I’ve not seen before. Makes a huge difference to me.

The halls are small but the room I was in was spacious. A lot of clinics I’ve been to feel like I’m crammed in an undersized room with dental staff a few inches away from me while the dentist hovers on top of me. Wasn’t the case this time.

Terrible experience, didnt recieve the full half hour that was described and the price went up by £15. They did not tell me of the price increase before I went in or when I booked. The receptionist Carly was rude and very unhelpful. Wont be returning.

I went here a few years ago and got quite a bit of work done privately. The work was good quality and has lasted well, and generally the team were great - however I had a lot of difficulty getting them to understand that I was working with limited funds, and they were very pushy, often scheduling more work than I could afford at one time, despite my having laid out my budget restrictions clearly. The dentist was also very keen to pull teeth out that I believe could have been preserved for at least some time in a functional state, on the basis that he wanted to replace them with dental implants (which I would not have been able to afford for years, something I made clear but which was ignored). So, mixed feelings. Good quality work, but damaging lack of empathy, and a tendency to upsell with no regard for specific patient needs and circumstances.

I was 15 when I visited the clinic. I was there to gain work experience as an aspiring Dentist. I was there for three days and could not have felt more welcome. It is a stunning practice with everyone pulling together to make a truly extraordinary experience. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and this was down to the incredible facilities and the wonderful people there who were ready to help with an array of problems. I had an amazing time there and I urge anyone to take them on as their Dentist.
