The winter weather is really coming at us now! Luckily this @alpinestars waterproof jacket and short combo will have you like a duck out there 💦☔️ 🦆 Tonight’s ride will be special going by the wind and rain right now.
Although the trails are currently closed during the week at the moment, the forestry have agreed to open them for the weekends with the odd diversion in place for the next month or so. This is great news so give this a share and get out for the last few rides in the trees!

We visited a couple of weeks ago and were welcomed even in our muddy running gear! Lovely coffee and cake made fantastic with real wood burner to stop the post workout chill! Well recommended!
We stopped going to Ae when the coffee shop closed but a friend told me it was open again!
And it is!
And they brought me a PERFECT cup of tea in a MASSIVE mug.
You should go.
Thanks for the help with seat post today guys, had an ace ride :)
Stopped at Ae after riding one of the larger 7 Stanes forests - the shop and cafe had a really good atmosphere with lots of locals using the uplift service. Well stocked bike shop with hire and demo bikes if needed.
Food in the cafe was excellent, good choice served quickly and with a smile.
Cycled the red route - hilly and demanding in places -would happily visit again
Lovely place,
Love this place, especially when the sun 🌞 is shining like yesterday 👍🏽🚵🏽🕺
I use the café whenever possible, mtb, passing on the road bike or heading into the forest for a walk with the family. Top quality, home made food, great atmosphere, top staff and Calum in the bike shop is always happy to help out with advice and take a look at my bike even when I'm just after a 2nd opinion and not leaving it with him to work on. Highly recommend.
I have to admit I am a regular at Ae but that should not stop me singing the praises of the Bike Shop and Cafe. As others have said before in other posts the food is excellent and the staff are very friendly. Callum who runs the shop is easy to get on with is very knowledgeable and is an excellent mechanic.
Apart from the obvious downhill and red/blue trails at Ae there is a regular Tuesday night gathering where groups go out for a night ride before returning to the cafe for a meal (only £5 on the night). Ths Tuesday nighter is on throughout the year. Newcomers are always made welcome.
Road riders you should add a cafe stop to your route if you are in the area. You won't be disappointed.
A slightly biased review I admit but true all the same.
Had a fantastic day at Ae primary which included a visit to the cafe to see Santa's elves and give them our letters for Santa.
The hot chocolate and Christmas themed shortbread was a lovely touch and warmed our pupils up after the elf hunt.
The teachers were wishing they could've cosied in round the wood burner!
Thank you head elf and all your elf helpers
Great place to ride and very friendly and helpful in both the bike shop and cafe. Well worth a visit.
Great little place. Really friendly, gorgeous cakes and a beautiful setting. Not to mention the knowledgeable bike advice!
Update June 29th - we made it to John O’Groats. Thanks again for your hospitality and help and your kind donation
Great little bike shop with super friendly staff. The Cafe is excellent with quite a large range of food on offer, lovely cakes and home made soup and decent coffee. Facilities are good too, clean loos and hot showers and a bike wash round the back of the shop.
Friendly, helpful and super-knowledgeable, great bike shop and the cafe next door's ace too.
Excellent little shop and cafe with great home made cakes.
Been going 5 weeks now and it is brilliant. Tuesdays night rides are awesome and to go out with a good group of lads and girls I would say to many other people that it is worth trying . Food is great aswell
All round great place....everything is spot on.... looking forward to going back soon.
A little gem of a place, friendly and helpful staff in the bike shop, with a great mix of trails for all abilities, with very good hire bikes too. All in all we had a blast and left smiling like Cheshire cats.
Quick visit with my son for coffee and a cake whilst test driving a new car. Nice chat with the guy in the shop re hiring e-bikes and a lovely hot coffee and cake in the cafe later. Thanks guys.
