About Alston Bar & Beef

Enter through Gordon St and follow the stairs down beneath Glasgow Central to the bar with a wide range of gin & the best steak the city has to offer.

Alston Bar & Beef Description

Alston Bar & Beef, named after the long forgotten main street of Grahamston village, is located underneath the Gordon Street entrance of Glasgow Central Station. Follow the stairs down to Alston’s underground arches to a bar with Glasgow’s widest range of gin, each uniquely garnished & served to perfection.
Glaswegians are spoilt for choice when it comes to great places to eat & Alston’s aims to raise the bar for meat lovers even further by serving the best steak the city has to offer. Choose from a selection of 28-35 day dry-aged steaks, including the porterhouse to share or Glasgow’s favourite, the fillet. All our Scotch beef is carefully chosen from accredited farms each renowned for producing quality beef, full of flavour & tenderness.

Did you know that our meats come from award winning John Gilmour Butchers, supplying only the top 1% of Scottish meat?
Steak of the week: Flat Iron Steak
Where does it come from? ... This cut comes from the shoulder of the animal, and is so named because it should lie flat on the plate.
What makes it good? As it comes from the shoulder, this muscle gets a lot of work resulting in a bigger, stronger, beefy flavour. 👏
How should it be cooked? This kind of cut should only be cooked rare to medium as anything more and the meat will tense up and affect the flavour. Straight up with potatoes or chips, and maybe a whiskey or pepper glaze on the meat.
Aaannnd, it's also sold on our set menu which is available from 12pm until 6.30pm Monday to Friday, and until 4pm on Saturdays!
