Needs a little tlc. But fine for an old property.
Lovely place lovely views
Excellent self-catering accommodation for our group of 18 friends on our 41st annual Easter hiking holiday in Scotland. Comfortable rooms mostly with en suite facilities (though it's a shame our shower hose leaked badly), well equipped kitchens, pleasant dining room with a table large enough for all of us to sit down together. Plenty of Munros in striking distance, plus good birding spots and cycle trails... something for everyone.
We found Alvey House to be a wonderful traditional Highland home. Roy and Margaret were warm and welcoming and looked after us really well. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the dining room offered us wonderful views as we had our meals. The food was very good with plenty of choices.
We visited Alvey House in October and the scenery was breathtaking. We were able to visit a number of places and it was always good to come "home" and be spoiled by our hosts. Thanks Roy & Margaret - Love to you both!
Lovely traditional scottish highland house, full of character and warmth, mirrored by hosts Roy and Margaret who look after you well. Roy's breakfast sets you up for the day and Margaret's packed lunch (available upon request) will keep you going until dinnertime - which can also be available in-house if requested. Great location on the edge of the peaceful village of Newtonmore with great views. An excellent base to explore the likes of Aviemore and surrounding area. We've stayed here a few times now and look forward to returning again.
