This is totally the best Indian takeaway I've had,the meat was really tender and the portion size was very reasonable,I would highly recommend amani to anyone 👍

So I just called this place since I've adopted a vegan lifestyle to ask what on their menu was safe to order online. Before I go ahead I don't know who it was that answered the phone. But he was extremely rude, inconsiderate and insulting. This is how the conversation went. -

Me - Hello, I'm calling because I wanted to ask a question before I order something online.

Him - (irritated tone) I can't hear you please speak up.

Me - (Repeated what I said and asked if he could hear me now, he confirmed)...so I am vegan and I was wondering if you have any options on your menu which are ok to order so I can order online.

Him - Yes, there are plenty of options on the menu.

Me - Without egg and dairy? So not vegetarian but vegan.

Him - (offended and angry) You think I don't know that?

Me - (clarifying) Sorry but from my experiences most places confuse vegetarian and vegan so I was just confirming.

Him - (quite angry now) Yes there are many things on the menu.

Me - Ok can you guide me as to which items they are?

Him - (snaps) What do you want? You want me to read out the menu to you? (Disconnects)

As you can probably summarise from the above it wasn't as if I was taking up too much of his time, the whole thing was probably done in 15 seconds or less. But what was particularly shocking was this person is absolute disregard for a potential customer and complete disdain for nutritional concerns and the total lack of even an iota of respect for another human being.

They're obviously doing well enough to not care and even insult people who may require them to spend a minute or two explaining things which wouldn't be necessary if their online menu or website was more descriptive than it is or contained allergen information.

Unknown to this rude character I have been a regular customer easily spending anywhere between £80-£120 ordering food from them every single month and after this experience I'm never going back and I hope that others take note of this and follow suit. Unfortunately there's obviously been no impact of this kind of rude behaviour on their business because obviously this wasn't the first time something like this has happened and it won't be the last, going by how easily this incident came to pass.

Never in the hospitality business have I experienced such uncouth levels of basic humanity.

Overcharged and they refused to correct their mistake and they forgot our juice and when we asked about it said we didn't order it!

For reference I have eaten in/had takeaway from at least 30 different Indian / Bangladeshi restaurants and takeaways in Edinburgh so this is certainly not a review from ignorance.

Delivery: prompt and speedy. Tiger prawns: rubbery from overcooking or reheated, also tasted fishy, definitely not fresh. Chicken tikka in a curry sauce: no sign of the meat being pre-marinaded/grilled as it should be before adding to the sauce. Also tasted reheated, was possibly even turkey. Curry sauce: I found it tasty, but a bit hotter than we would expect for a dansak, only 2 pieces of pineapple in the whole tray. Naan: soggy, no cripsy bits, quite ghee flavoured. Vegetable rice: again quite a bit of ghee, few vegetables. Will not be ordering again from here.

This is my local Indian takeaway. If recommend it.

Great Indian takeaway. The food is cooked fresh in front of you, and the chefs are happy to cook dishes to your preferred level of spice. Always friendly service, and they often throw in a free poppadom or two as well. Winner.
