This month our museum's bookclub is reading a dystopian novel set in a beehive where one bee rebels against the totalitarian state. We're discussing the book on 2 June. If you'd like to join our monthly bookclub, please contact the museum on 01383724302. The bookclub is free of charge and books can be collected from and returned to the museum.
We are launching a new campaign - Monday’s #MeetTheMaker!
We want to encourage our visitors to #ShopLocal and support our talented artisans crafting away in the area. Every Monday over the next couple of months, we’ll be sharing a local artist whose work we love and stock in our shop. 🎨
First up is the design business Leslie & Rosie founded by Lesley Ratatomska! She is based in Dunfermline and produces designs inspired by the patterns and colours she observes in the built an...d natural environment around her and works in a number of mediums, reproducing her designs on both paper and fabric.
We currently stock some of her apron designs, inspired by the beautiful wrought iron railings at the entrances to Pittencrieff Park on St Margaret Street and Monastery Street.
Have a browse of some more of her designs here:

Hello all!
Nominations are now open for the UK's #FamilyFriendlyMuseum award. The award is given by the charity Kids in Museums to a museum, gallery, historic property or heritage site which makes an extra effort for families!
What better time to highlight all the things we do for local families. From our new under 5s Bobbins groups, our Easter Holiday Crafternoons, Relaxed Openings, to our Big Lego Build back in April, we like to think we do a good job!
... If you do too, why not nominate us in the category for small museum and shout about all we do? Here's the link if anyone is interested 😃

fantastic history ..the town has alot of history that dates back to 10th C..
Very interesting and inspiring- we stayed here longer than we thought we would, to read everything! Well worth a visit.
Very informative. Wonderful birthplace cottage and a tardis of an adjoining museum. Touching artifacts and quotes from Andrew Carnegie. A very moving experience of great interest to general visitors as well as scholars of education, business and the USA.
Really Good museum with helpful and friendly guide.
Lovely friendly, enthusiastic staff willing to chat, find out what you wanted from your trip and talk you through your visit or explain interactive information & let you get on with it!
If you find yourself in this area then do not miss out - spend a while in this fabulous museum and learn about a remarkable man with humble but wholesome origins. He made America his home but never forgot Scotland or his beloved Dunfermline.
I was very pleasantly surprised by the number and quality of the items on show. The exhibits are sensibly displayed and the friendly staff both knowledgeable and helpful. A pleasant place to visit.
I enjoyed my visit very much. I learned a lot of interesting historical info. The custodian lady was very helpful especially with using the coffee machine!
