Angecroft Caravan Park

I absolutely loved Angecroft Park. The lodge was spotless, comfortable and we had spectacular views of the hills by day and of the stars by night whilst sounds of the river trickled by.

There was no wifi and no phone signal which was bliss. I was worried about how my teenage children would cope, but they loved it and our board games and table tennis have never been used so much. They also enjoyed playing on the rope swing over the river. Great quality family time had by all.

We dined at the local pubs Tushielaw Inn and The Gordon Arms Hotel. The food and hospitality was great. However, this can be expensive if feeding a large family daily so I would recommend getting your shopping done on the way to the site because the nearest supermarkets are in Hawick.

I would highly recommend a visit to the Grey Mares's Tail waterfall and St Mary's Loch.

Picturesque campsite, 30 minutes from peebles. The journey to the site is spectacular. Come here to get away from modern life (in comfort).

We stayed in a lodge and it was lovely and comfortable. Could do with some patio furniture. Absolutely lovely park for anybody wanting peace and quiet. The staff couldn't be more helpful. They are a real credit to the park!! Beautiful and tranquil - will definitely go again!! Nearest town is approx 20 miles away so don't forget anything. Go, relax and forget about everything - ENJOY

Ok...here goes. I've given this caravan park 3 stars because depending on what you are looking for its either fantastic or poor. Let's face it, it's in the middle of nowhere. If you are looking for a quiet break just resting in great scenery, or like to walk, this place is great. There are lots of walks and hikes of varying degrees on your doorstep and it's a beautiful place even when it's raining. We stayed in one of the lodges which was really comfortable. Lots of room, well presented and warm. You could live permanently in one of these with no problem. The couple who run the park are friendly and helpful and always around. Now....if you are looking for a 'hoseasons' park with entertainment and a pool, this park is not it. I feel that the advertising for the park should be more descriptive. We knew where we were going but I imagine if you just looked this park up on a website you could end up disappointed. It's at least 30 minutes to the nearest town by car so bring everything you need. There's no 'popping out to the shop'. The shop on site is small and has limited supply. All of that said....we really enjoyed our stay here; for us it was an ideal break from life with the odd hike thrown in for good measure. No phone signal, no Internet, just a quiet few days away from it all.
