Annan Court Care Home

Good evening all. Just a wee update to let you know that my last working day at Annan Court will be Thursday 6th December. I have had so many lovely comments from so many which had been so heartwarming and I am truly thankful and overwhelmed by how much I have impacted on so many in the community. Annan court has been such a huge part of my life and it is going to be a huge void for me. We are busy getting our festive Calendar ready and we are looking forward to getting all our decorations hunted out ready for the light switch on. There will be dates for your diary flyers ready next week so can join us for any chance events during December 🎄 Suzanne 🤗

What a lovely write up in the paper today. Was very heart warming to see the reaction of our residents as they read it and to hear all of their beautiful comments about us and their home 💕

Fireworks party 2018 🎆

What an fantastic turnout tonight for our fireworks. It is always the highlight of my year seeing all the generations come together to enjoy the different displays and sparklers and of course the hotdogs! A huge thank you also to Gavin and Andrew for giving up their evening to co ordinate the display which they worked nicely in with the big display that was going on near Dornock 🤗. Thank you also to Allan for keeping us fed and watered afterwards and for the team for pulling... out the stops to ensure our residents enjoyed the event from either outside or cosied up in the lounge. Tonight was extra special for me and quite emotional as it will very sadly be my last opportunity to organise the fireworks at annan court as I have after a great deal of deliberation decided to move on in December. It meant a great deal to be able to share tonight with my family too as they have been a huge support to me over the last 7 years in many ways. This has allowed me the commitment and flexibility to lead the team to the home we have today. I have had an amazing journey and have always worked to ensure our residents are always at the centre of all we do and tonight certainly showed that. The forecast is looking good so all is on track for our annual fireworks tomorrow (Monday)at 6pm. Due to the weather forecast being rather depressing for tomorrow evening we have decided it is safer than f we move it to Monday so we can aim for a clearer drier evening. Sorry for the inconvenience but if it is a clearer dry night we can get so many more people outside to enjoy it. 6pm start.

We are all getting ready for our fireworks on Friday 2nd November at 6pm in the garden overlooking the solway followed by hotdogs and hot drinks 🤗 🎆 some lovely pumpkin carving by our residents to help decorate the reception 🎃

We have had some fantastic news today! Finalists in the Scottish Care Awards 2018 in the category for Nutrition and Well-being and for Best Care service of the year! Wow - mega proud of the team. The awards night is on 16th November in the Hilton at Glasgow. Let the dress hunting begin! 🎉🎈🍾

Another busy wee week started with our David’s ‘happy birthday’. 🎉🎁

Thank you to everyone who supported our raffle by either buying tickets or donating prizes. We made a fantastic £192 for our residents funds for future events, trips etc.
Congratulations to all the winners. A list of all winners is displayed in the home and if you have been a lucky winner Christine will be giving you a ring so you can arrange collection when you visit if you haven’t already received them 🤗

The weather stayed dry for our outing today which took some of our residents a tour around the countryside stopping at the ‘Muckle Toon’ for ice cream 🤗.
Our next group of carers started their best practice in dementia award today too as part of our ongoing team development.
Friday afternoon welcomes Jennifer for our music group 🎶

A huge thank you for all that made our party a success today. We had a great time between team games entertainment from Bernie Fishwig, prizey bingo, a fantastic cake selection and traditional home made birthday cake along with our very own home made ice cream cart with its own music! It is so lovely to take time to enjoy time together bringing people of all ages together for the afternoon to celebrate in traditional annan court style. Thank you also to my fab team who alway manage to make it happen and continue to go that extra mile to ensure all our residents enjoy life in our home. 🤗

Fingers crossed the weather brightens for our garden party tomorrow. Never fear as always a contingency plan so we won’t let our cakes get a soggy bottom and the afternoon will move in to the lounge for entertainment games and some lovely prizes including the chance to win our anniversary cake! We look forward to seeing relatives friends staff and their families join us to celebrate annan court being open 20 years this year 🎉💐🎈🍾
