As one of the home care providers in the area .. can I say a huge thank you and well done to each and every carer who have been out in the horrendous conditions and what you’ve had to endure over the last week or so ... I don’t think a lot of people realise just how bad it can be for carers who can be soaking to the backside 2 or 3 times a day and the carers who have to leave their cars and walk because they can’t get to where they need to be without complaining .. You all do a fantastic job 👏👏👏

We have had a busy week here at ABBS having our inspection from the care inspectorate 😬 We would like to thank all of our fantastic staff for their continuous hard work and wonderful service users for all the lovely feedback given about us and allowing our inspector to visit you in your home. We are proud to be graded a 5 which is "very good" and from the scale of 1-6, 6 being the highest, we are so happy to sit with a 5 for our care and support. A really fantastic inspection this year and a wonderful end to a busy week 🎉😁

This is a long shot but I’m hoping the people concerned see this and pop into the Lockerbie office ..... Quite a number of weeks ago we loaned out a wheelchair to a couple who popped into the office as the ladies chair wasn’t working and had gone for repair and they were unable to source one elsewhere ... I would be grateful it they would come in and let us know how much longer the chair will be away for repair. In the urgency I didn’t get a Mobile number or name but the couple did say they were new to area ... thank you

Annandale Bed and Bath Service are supporting Macmillan this week and will be having a coffee morning In the Moffat office on Friday. ❤ As a carer you will watch me do things and instantly judge me for them, look down your nose and see me as nothing more than someone that deals with other peoples body fluids and makes cups of tea. You'll wonder why i can walk out of a room and instantly into another, forgetting that i may have promised your relative a blanket or a cup of water because i was 'distracted' by someone else. You'll wonder why i have walked by your relatives room and not entered theirs, you'll wo...nder why others are attended to sooner and you will curse my name under your breath as they wait. You'll wonder how i seem to have time to sit down and write and wonder how i cant fix things immediately. You'll wonder how, under any circumstance, i could be sharing a smile or a laugh with a co-worker as if laughter has no place. As i walk in for my shift, you will look at me, your eyes saying you want me to help and you will wonder why i cant just make it happen. But heres what, if your very lucky, you'll never see. You'll never see me lose, you'll never see me take off my sweaty gloves, you'll never see me say goodbye to someone i have cared for for months or even years. You will never see the weight that we carry home for minutes or hours , days or weeks, or even lifetimes. You'll never see our childrens faces as we kiss them goodbye on christmas morning so we can make it a special day for your family member. You'll never see the deep breath we take as we walk into a room to prepare a loved one before their family enters to say their last goodbye. You'll never see our hearts ache for those we have nursed and passed and those that continue to battle. You'll never see our minds tirelessly overthink and overwork scenarios, wondering how or if we could do something better next time. You'll never see us break the news that someones Husband or Wife , that they have been married to for 50 plus years has died because they have forgotten again , You'll never see us comfort them as they cry. And for thr most part, Im okay that you cant see those things. Its my job to do, my burden to carry and my labor of love and service so you dont have to, so that relationship you have remains as it always has been, so you dont have to become their carer . I'll take on that role for you. However i'll be honest, there are times i wish you could understand the alternative to your relative thats waiting. There are times i wish you understood the difference between urgency and emergancy. And are certainly times i wish i could be transparent enough to tell you when your relative dies it breaks our hearts too. If you know, or love a carer do a favour just give them a hug or maybe a fist bump if hugging aint their thing, or maybe just a nod of approval but more than anything just remember we are more than just bottom cleaners and tea makers . We are working hard and as fast as we can, and most days its never enough.
