Annandale Distillery Description
It’s been a while (90 years in fact) but the re-awakening of Annandale Distillery means that fine Single Malt Scotch whisky now flows again from Dumfries and Galloway.
For those who enjoy ‘thinking whisky’ as much as ‘drinking whisky’, we are a sophisticated Whisky Academy (virtual and actual).
When Annandale Distillery opened in 1836, Annan was an established embarkation port for emigrant Scots. As a tribute to these intrepid souls, the ‘A’ of Annandale is in the image of a billowing sail.
We hope that whisky lovers, people of Scottish origin from around the world and, indeed, anybody of good cheer will enjoy being part of Annandale Distillery’s future.
Our peated whisky will be known as Man o’Sword and our unpeated whisky as Man o’Words, in celebration of local icons, King Robert the Bruce (Scotland’s Warrior King and 7th Earl of Annandale) and Robert Burns (Scotland’s National Poet and Exciseman in Annandale), respectively.

Man O'Words 2015 Release - Sherry Cask
2018 has been a year of firsts for Annandale Distillery. In June, we selected a limited number of casks from our first 2014 production to produce the first Single Cask, Single Malt Scotch Whisky from Annandale Distillery for nearly 100 years. Now, we proudly unveil another first - the first Annandale Single Cask, Single Malt Scotch Whisky to be matured in sherry butts.
... For this release, we were lucky enough to obtain authentic Oloroso Spanish oak sherry butts from Miguel Martin, Spain. These hard-to-come-by sherry butts were used to mature Spanish sherry time and time again. Selected by Dr Jim Swan, they represent a singular approach to maturing single malt whisky. The result is a stunning depth of flavour.
We've selected just one cask of smooth unpeated Man O'Words from our 2015 production for this sherry release, and each bottle is individually marked with cask and bottle number, and presented in a striking gift box.

In 2014 Annandale produced 103 casks of unpeated Man O’Words. We’ve selected just 10 of these casks for bottling. Each of these very rare bottles is identified by cask number and a unique, sequential number. You can become one of very few Scotch Whisky lovers to own a bottle of Annandale Distillery’s first Single Malt for 100 years.

Did you know you can bring in your own casks for us to fill?
Bring in your cask, fill it yourself (or have one of our professional team do it), store it for up to ten years, visit it annually and depending on the size draw an annual sample from it and in time it will mature into an Annandale peated or unpeated whisky.
Every cask that comes in will be filled with our award-winning new make spirit, the Rascally Liquor. This 63.5% new make has received critical acclaim from the... London Spirit awards and from Diffords Guide; receiving their highest mark.
