Right in the heart of the National Park you'll find Dartmoor Llama Walks. A unique experience, where there's no need to worry about carrying your picnic lunch - the llamas will do it for you! The first walks take place in March, why not book one during your stay with us.

Did you know that Dartmoor was the fifth National Park to be designated in the UK in 1951? It's a landscape shaped by millennia of human activity and set against a backdrop of breathtaking high open moorland. We're perfectly placed for exploring parts of it!

Are you planning some walks during your stay with us? How about ascending one of the highest granite tors in the range. Yes Tor is at 619 metres, but the route to the summit is surprisingly light on a clear day, as it skirts the moorland on the way.

Did you know that Dartmoor is known as the walking centre of Devon? Visitors can discover the wild side of the moor or explore forgotten villages on foot or by bike. A great place to explore, even during the winter months.

Just 10 minutes away from us, you can park up and set off in search of the Meldon Viaduct. Traversing the West Okement River, it's made from cast and wrought iron, rather than brick or stone, and took three years to build. This stretch of railway has long since shut, but it's now possible to walk the viaduct's 163-metre span on the Granite Way footpath.

At this time of year with the paths and fields getting wet and muddy, it's almost impossible to avoid dogs getting dirty. When you get back from a walk, use our dog shower to make sure your four-legged friend is clean and comfortable.

You can find us right on the northern edge of Dartmoor National Park. It's a magical place with Carboniferous granite uplands, which are more than 300 million years old, and blanket bog and spellbinding oak woodland in sheltered valleys lower down. A fantastic area to explore!
