Our new Signature Kingsize blankets, captured wonderfully by Laura Meek on our recent photoshoot. These beauties have been handwoven here in our Edinburgh studio using a complex technique called 'double weaving' which basically involves weaving two halves of each blanket on top of each other!

We are delighted to introduce you to little Teddy, the newest member of the Araminta Campbell team! He is one month old today, and already learning to appreciate the softness of an alpaca blanket. Araminta, Jamie and the dogs are all completely smitten, and loving spending time together as a family.

Corine has been busy in our weaving workshop here in Edinburgh. Over the last week she has been dressing the loom with a fresh warp, and setting up a new design that will be woven for our collection release this Autumn. Lots of hard work but you can be sure the results will be worth it!

Yesterday we had a wonderful day photographing new pieces for our Signature Collection. The location was simply stunning, a secret garden deep in East Lothian that was the perfect setting for Araminta's botanically inspired designs. Our photographer Laura Meek was simply brilliant, and we can't wait to share the results with you!

Today we went to see the shearing BobCat Alpacas! This happens once a year for Britain’s 50,000 alpacas, and gets them ready for summer as well as producing the beautiful fleece we use in our products. Professional shearers take around 6 minutes to shear each animal, as well as checking over their teeth and feet. Sometimes they get a quick pedicure as well as a haircut! The fleece is then separated out into the different grades for quality, weighed and bagged ready for spi...nning into yarn. Great to see Bob and Cath again and their lovely herd!

Most people don't realise how much work is involved before you begin handweaving. The process of preparing a warp or 'dressing the loom' takes a lot of patience and precision, just as well Corine has plenty of both!

The Fife Arms tweed was being woven today in the mill! Some of the Araminta Campbell team went down to the Scottish Borders to check on progress, and were delighted to see it weaving up beautifully. The mill that we work with creates our bespoke tweed designs on looms that often date back to Victorian times. It’s so wonderful to see these expert craftspeople and old machines working away, creating exceptional cloth and keeping those textile traditions alive.
