Congratulations
Everyone at Arbroath FC would like to congratulate Laura and Michael Beattie who welcomed their beautiful new son, Harry Innes Beattie into the world yesterday morning!
We hope Mum and baby are both doing well!
... It turns out like April 13th will not only be a day to remember our League One Title Win, but the birth of Harry!
Congratulations again!

Happy 56th Birthday to Graham Milne
We have had a message from Lichtie daft Andy Thain asking if we could wish his father-in-law a very Happy Birthday, so Happy Birthday Graham from all of us at the club.
Andy told us "He has been a diehard Arab all his life and season ticket holder but when he moved back to Arbroath 5 years ago through his love of Football he decided to come with me to support his hometown club eventually getting a season ticket and hasn’t looked back since ...seeing us take in another 2 league titles in that time.
This season though unforeseen to him has been rather difficult seeing his beloved Arabs come up against his new love of the lichties, braving the wrath of fellow workmates and friends to go in the Arbroath end TWICE at Tannadice. I think he was hoping for draws in all the games but both teams have wins over each other so I am sure he would settle for that lol.
We were actually due at hospitality in a couple of weeks for his birthday but sadly that won’t happen now but here’s hoping we can do that next season when we renew our season tickets again."
Happy Birthday Graham, and don't worry your secret is safe with us! Glad to have your support!
Hope you have had a great day despite the circumstances!
C'mon the Lichties!

Young Lichtie Club Members - Grand National First Prizes
Our two first places in the Young Lichties Club Grand National virtual sweepstake were Joseph Gall and Harry Hay.
Mike Burnett from Arbroath Walking Football who kindly donated a signed matchball from the League One winning team dropped off the ball with Harry, whilst Joseph Gall had his ball signed by the current squad delivered!
... Great to see the two young lads smiling and happy during these difficult times.
Many thanks again to Mike and everyone at Arbroath Walking Football
C'mon the Lichties!

1946-1947 Scottish Cup
It was brought to our attention that Arbroath reached the Scottish Cup Semi-finals 73 years ago this week!
Not only that but we heard that father of Ewan Vannett who now lives down in Norfolk was at the game. His father was born in Friockheim in 1930 but moved to England in 1966.
... In the first round we were held to a 2-2 draw by Stenhousemuir at Gayfield before wining the replay 2-0, then defeated Raith Rovers 5-4 at Gayfield in the 3rd round before beating Heart of Midlothian 2-1 at Gayfield in the quarter finals.
It seems like there were only 2 ties in the 2nd round?
The semi-final was played on 12th April 1947 at Dens Park and Arbroath were defeated by Aberdeen 2-0 in front of a crowd of 22,000 with South African Striker Stan Williams netting in the 43rd and 70th minute.
The Lichties played in a hooped shirt that day.
Arbroath - Bonnar, English, Evans, Fraser, Hynd, McGinlay, Timmins, McMullen, Carrie, Hill, Smith.
Aberdeen - Johnstone, Cooper, McKenna, McLaughlin, Dunlop, Taylor, Harris, Hamilton, Williams, Baird, McColl.
Aberdeen went on to beat Hibernian in the final, where Williams netted the winner.
Referee McDale, Glasgow.
Attendance 22,000.

Happy Birthday
*edit - Mike has asked me to pass on his thanks to each and everyone of you who wished him a Happy Birthday. He asks you to keep safe, have a great Easter and he will hopefully see you all again very soon*
Well a little birdie informed us late tonight that today has been our Chairman, Mike Caird's Birthday!
... Those of us who are lucky to know Mike, will tell you he is a gentleman who is very humble and likes to stay away from the limelight, but I think we all need to wish Mike a very Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday Mike from everyone at the club! Thank you for everything you have done and continue to do for our club!
Happy Birthday!
