About

Established in 2002 by Nick Kirkland, who has nearly 25 years of architectural expertise behind him, ADC Ltd is an independent privately owned practice whose aim is to provide a personal architectural and development consultancy service to the public and private sectors.

With experience in all sectors of the market including healthcare, residential, industrial, office and commercial, be it new build or refurbishment, clients can rest assured that a quality service is provided on each and every project. We guarantee Director level involvement in all developments.

The in house technical team pride themselves on their understanding of the build process and constantly strive to provide effective and concise construction information that not only ensures a smooth build but also within budget. To ensure that the above high standards are maintained the company uses the latest 3D software to prepare all its schemes. Whether it be planning drawings or working drawings the scheme is modelled in 3D form allowing the client, planners, funders, construction team and even end users to view all round the proposed building or facility, inside and out, so as to gain a comprehensive understanding of the design.



Residential

Whether it is an extension, a one off bespoke house design or a large estate, traditional or contemporary designs ADC has the track record to produce innovative and cost effective designs.

A vast and varied portfolio boasting successful projects for such clients as Premier League football players, national and regional house builders and some of the countries largest social registered landlords.

A thorough knowledge of the residential market and planning polices gives ADC the key ingredients to realising the full potential of a site. Working with private individuals, local developers and national house builders ADC offer a personal service with director level involvement in all projects.

Smaller scale projects such as pools, games rooms and other domestic extensions receive the same detail attention as larger projects in order to satisfy requirements for individual needs.

Healthcare

Working closely with the care home operators, CSCI and the Local Authorities care services ADC create bespoke solutions and designs to meet the client’s requirements and budget.

The practice has worked on numerous healthcare projects from nursing and residential homes to learning disability homes and dementia care.

ADC are fully conversant with the Care Standards Act National Minimum Standards, such as the requirement for minimum 12sq. m bedrooms, 4. 1 sq. m communal space per service user, 1 assisted bath per 8 service users etc and also for other facilities such as snoozelems. We realise however these standards are minimums and we work carefully with our clients to achieve designs that fit in with their requirements. We do not believe there is such a thing as a standard care home – all our designs are bespoke to the site and the client requirements.

This has been demonstrated by our work being runner up twice in the national Pinders Healthcare Awards held annually in London.


Industrial and Commercial

ADC has experience of developing both brownfield and greenfield sites for commercial and industrial developments. Having a thorough knowledge of the market place and what end users require ADC work hand in hand with developers to maximise the sites coverage and therefore returns.

Furthermore ADC are often employed by contractors to work with them to ‘value engineer’ projects to help them put together the most competitive bid. Utilising our 3D software the building is virtually constructed in house prior to any site works commencing and therefore all the usual associated construction issues are identified and ironed out whilst at design stage, thereby maximising profitability and minimising the construction period with all the added benefits that brings.


Retail

ADC has experience in designing and coordinating the construction of retail premises be they one off small units to through to large shopping centres. Working closely with developers, contractors, the various agents and end users where applicable, ADC is capable of managing the whole process, be it shell build or completed units. ADC have been key consultants in projects involving some of the UK’s best known brands including Next, River Island, DeMontfort, Majestic Wine and Sports Direct

With the power of our 3D software, fly throughs and computer generated models can be produced in house to give the developers, funding bodies, the construction team and tenants a thorough understating of the proposals without a brick being laid.
