It was great having some fantastic fundraisers from Craigmarloch School visit us at the Hospice to present a cheque last week. Along with a Christmas Cafe, the enterprising youngsters organised and took part in a 5k sponsored walk around the Battery Park, raising over £800!
As a special treat, Elaine from our Fundraising Team contacted Chris Collins, manager at Domino's in Greenock, who was so impressed he provided pizzas for our guests to tuck into before they received a tou...r of the hospice.
A big thank you to everyone at Craigmarloch for their brilliant fundraising efforts, and a thank you to Domino's Greenock for their lovely generosity!

The cat is officially out the bag! We're absolutely thrilled to welcome Greg Taylor to Ardgowan Hospice as our new ambassador.
Greg plays for Scotland and Celtic and will use his sporting background to help encourage locals to become Active for Ardgowan! (stay tuned for more on this soon).
He popped by the hospice to meet some patients at our In-Patient Unit last week, including Tommy and Gordon.
... Tommy McGhee told the Greenock Telegraph that "it's brilliant to see someone like Greg take up the role."
And Gordon Brown said "it's fantastic as Greg is a local boy who has made good. The hospice is a great place, all the staff, from the cleaners right through to the doctors, all take the time to speak to you. They are absolutely brilliant, every one of them." He also added that "most people think you come into the hospice to die, but I've been in and out four times."
Greg comes from a family of hospice supporters - his Nanny Rose is part of a fundraising bingo group, and his mum Fiona has completed 10ks in aid of Ardgowan. We're proud that Greg is following in their footsteps!
"It's a massive honour." said Greg, speaking to the Greenock Telegraph,
"I think anyone you speak to is grateful for the care that the hospice provides - it's a special place. The work they do is great, especially the volunteers and the people who offer their spare time."
We can't wait to work with Greg on getting you all Active for Ardgowan!

A big thanks to Claire Anne and Gayle from EE Greenock who spent the day helping their hospice! The fantastic volunteers used their time to paint a wall in preparation for a very special addition to Ardgowan (it's a secret, but all will be revealed soon 🤫).
We can't thank them enough for their time today, the fresh lick of paint looks great!

The Hunter Foundation has now upped their Top Up to 50%, meaning 150% of funds you raise on the Kiltwalk will go to your chosen charity - so if you raise £100, £150 will go to Ardgowan Hospice at no extra cost to you!
You can now apply directly for a free place through this new form on our website!*

In what may be a first for Ardgowan Hospice, we recently had an amazing in-store head shave fundraiser by brave Bethany Stewart!
Bethany has a condition called trichotillomania - "I compulsively pull out my hair when I'm stressed" said Bethany. "Half my hair had already gone so I thought I might as well shave the rest of it off and do something positive."
Bethany kindly decided to raise funds for Ardgowan as her grandparents, John McAteer and Robert Campbell Stewart were sup...ported by the hospice.
What makes this head shave so unique is instead of braving the shave at home or in a hairdressers shop, Bethany came along to our West Stewart Street charity shop along with local hairdresser Christine Thompson!
They performed the cut live on the shop floor with kind customers donating as the shave to place, one amazing donor left a ten pound note for Bethany's bravery.
The cut was live streamed on Artistry By Christine's page, you can see it by visiting the videos section. Bethany certainly didn't suffer any "stage fright" and was full of smiles and cracking jokes throughout the experience!
Thank you Bethany, you were amazing!
You can still donate to her gofundme page at https://ie.gofundme.com/f/1u9d36sryo

Burns night is tomorrow, and our friends at Carriages, Kilmacolm have the perfect way to celebrate.
From 9pm they'll be hosting a Burns Supper in aid of Ardgowan Hospice. You can enjoy haggis, neeps and a wee dram, with proceeds going to the hospice.
All they ask is a minimum donation of a £2, and there'll also be music from the St Columbas School Pipe Band!
