Lovely family run B&B, with really tasty home grown food from the farm.

We stayed here last summer with our then 7-year old twins as part of a trip along the Scottish coast, and we were completely overwhelmed by Gillian's hospitality.
Ardness House is a quaint, inviting house conveniently located beside the road leading to Fionnphort and the ferry going to Iona. Lots of parking available. Even though it s by the main road, noise is not an issue (we had rooms facing the road) and it feels remote and charming. The atmosphere on Mull (spooky and majestic) is like something we have never experienced, even though we are experienced travellers. Ardness House is perfectly located to experience this with views of the water and hills.
We were housed in the family wing with two rooms and a bathroom (huge!) just for us. The breakfast room is across the hall, which removes some of the privacy in the morning, but it is not an issue as Gillian is very respectful. The rooms themselves are simple, charming and very clean, with everything you'd need. We had a little trouble getting steady hot water from the shower, but once we figured it out we had lots of hot water with good water pressure.
The breakfast was amazing, and it is great having a conversation with Gillian who knows so much about the island. During our breakfast chat she convinced us that Staffa was definitely worth a visit, even though we hadn't planned on going there. She quickly called ahead for us and booked us seats on the boat. We had to rush a bit to get there in time, but it was absolutely worth it, and we're so glad she pushed us to do it. We saw seals and puffins and the island itself has amazing rock formations, which made for many unique photo ops.
On the way back, the boat makes a short stop on Iona. At the dock in Iona, Gillian was waiting for us, holding my daughter's little teddy... In the rush to catch the boat we had left it behind, and in all the excitement, my daughter had completely forgotten about it. She almost cried when she saw it again. We couldn't believe that Gillian had gone out of her way to make sure we got it back. This is the kind of service you can only dream of.
We would highly recommend Ardness House for your travels on Mull. It is ideally located for visits to Iona and Staffa and you will never in your life meet a more gracious and hospitable host than Gillian.
