You may have recently seen in the press that Argyle St Arches is undertaking a five month project with the London-based Fine Art Restoration Co. (FARCO) to restore three Banksy murals that were sadly covered with grey emulsion in 2007.
In 2001, Banksy’s joint exhibition with Jamie Reid ‘Peace is Tough’ saw the creation of 3 very special murals on a wall in which once was ‘The Arches’; The Mona Lisa surrounded by a picture frame, a gun- toting monkey wearing a tutu, and the w...ords “Every time I hear the word culture, I release the safety on my 9mm” written between them.
FARCO’s team specialising in paint removal will carefully remove the grey paint to reveal the three murals over the next 5 months. We are incredibly delighted that these rare and very special murals will be saved for the nation to see!

So glad someone is doing something exciting with this place. Great selection of street food stalls, well thought out seating / bar / food service. And the added bonus of a brilliant market every other Sunday. Good job people!
I have made many memories and lifelong friends between the walls of this place. Will always have a special place in my heart
Brilliant atmosphere,wide variety of products,and the people are so friendly. I thought underneath the arches it might be very hot and stuffy, but I was wrong, it's nice and cool and airy the relaxing background music is a pleasure to listen to.
No need to feel hungry after your time shopping, there are lots of eateries to choose from xxx
