Listen to our Trainee Chef, Nicolle Finnie, on her thoughts around World Skills.
Nicolle is part of Team UK for her category in Culinary Arts. She will compete to gain the title in this field for EuroSkills - renowned for recognising world-class talent. The entrant age limit is 25.
... Nicolle has been heavily involved in WorldSkills and EuroSkills since she was 17, after coaching from City of Glasgow College.
Now she’s almost 21, our young talent, is gearing up to compete again as part of Team UK in Budapest.
We're delighted for her and would like to wish Nicolle all the very best in developing her skills in the culinary arts.

Went for a "quick" meal with my friends and stayed there for hours. We ordered starters which I got French onion soup for mine. Loved it absolutely! I had for my main a duck. Was cooked to perfection. After our desserts which I couldn't finish (Was soo full) we moved to the bar area for few drinks. The bar staff were so professional they made us coctails which weren't even on the menu and tasted absolutely fantastic. Great food, great service fantastic cocktails and great atmosphere. Will be back soon!

We went on an itison deal. It was lovely and the service was amazing. Food excellent and, unlike some other places we've been to, the staff didn't look down upon us for being on a deal. I had the best soup I've had in 10 years for a starter and half chicken for mains. My pal had a goat's cheese salad then salmon. The food was beautiful. The service was fantastic.Can't recommend this place highly enough.

Used an ITISON voucher to try this place. Cocktail was just lovely to start. All the courses we had were really good and portions were big as well. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The voucher was excellent value for this standard of food. In fact we were so delighted we went online and bought another one �

Second visit here and can't fault it. Fabulous food and amazing staff. They even went out of their way to make up a birthday dessert plate for me when I mentioned it was a birthday dinner. C'était parfait merci!

Delicious meal in lovely surroundings. We had the weekend menu which was excellent value and the Mai Tai cocktail was how a cocktail should be!

Booked through 5pm however our booking didn’t get through. Staff sorted us out and the meal and service was absolutely fabulous!!!

Me and my wife have been in this nice bar a few times now and I must say it is very good!! Good service from the staff we like to go in here before we go for dinner i would recommend the Atlantic bar to any one looking for a wee bit of class!!!

Lovely meal. This is the third time we have eaten in here and I could not fault it. But today the chicken was not hot, only mild. But it still tasted fantastic. When I was asked if I enjoyed it, I told the truth, it was only warm not hot. They could not apologise more. We got a more expensive sweet for the price of the 5pm discount. Would defo go back again. No probs x

Terrine starter far too cold so no taste and given to us within 2 minutes of placing order. Obviously all plates sitting in fridge. Chicken tasty but served immediately after clearing our starter. Far too rushed and 3 times told only had table for 2 hours. Main meal finished and starter in about 30 mins. Felt far too rushed.

In short, the food was very good, but was let down by very poor service. Won't be going back.

visited the Atlantic bar last night at around 10pm for a last few drinks before heading for our train. 2 espresso martinis and a stirling gin and tonic came to 26.00 which seemed a pricey but fair price for a nice place. Then ordered 3 x g and ts and the price was 32.00! which blew us all away. when i questioned the astronomically huge price i was informed the standard measure was 50ml?! talk about a ripoff and encouraging excessive consumption. very disappointing for a lovely eatery.

Far far to noisy could not even have a conversation at out table. The management seem more intent in cramming as many pupils in as possible. No mention of having to give the table back, So we found ourselves (6 people) out in the street. Atlantic larger was lovely.

poor service and very poor knowledge off the menu would not go back
