Auchenwynd Cl Caravan Site

Very well kept site with pleasant helpful owner. Well located to visit Culzean and the Carrick area or down to the Galloway's.

This has got to rate amongst one of the most forward thinking CL's. On their website the owners say that they took all of the best things from the caravan sites they have visited themselves, and incorporated them into their own site.
A peaceful site with very generous, level pitches allowing for views over some beautiful countryside. Nearby, you can visit Culzean Castle, spend hours on the Burns trail, get to the beach within 10 minutes. TV, mobile phone and Mobile Broadband reception are all strong. The onsite toilet / shower is kept very clean and water and waste disposal are also good. The site has a small playpark, resident friendly sheep and owls. There is a picnic table and barbecue available for use. Our only criticism of our time here was the weather, but the countryside allowed for local weather forecasting skills to increase - if you could see the hills in the distance,, the rain was on the way, if you couldn't see them, it was raining, (apologies to Henry Longhurst for pinching his Turnberry quote). So at the end of 10 days here, happily say that I am glad my mum lives close to here otherwise I would never have found it! Look forward to booking return visits!

Well impressed with this CL. Run by caravaners, you can tell that they have planned it based on what they themselves would like to find when touring. 3 gravel and 2 grass pitches overlooking very nice scenery, grass & hedges kept neat and tidy. All pitches are large with hook-up. A small cabin with shower, wc and sink - kept very clean - is off to one side, behind this the water tap, grey waste and CDP points, again all clean and very easy to use. A drive over waste water emptying point for motorhomes is to the side, and waste bins a bench seat and even a barbeque as well! 10 out of 10 marks for the owners of this CL, we will return for sure. Nice folk - we had a chat about where they have been and where we were headed.

Avoid this place like the plague, no owners in house (reception), owners parents came loosley "now and again" to clean the one ONLY toilet on site, also no area to wash dishes, the two elderly parents of the owner although lovely and polite from time to time were overshadowed and totally bullied by their foul mouthed disrespectful, uneducated, and what I can only call a runt of a son owner,
Stay here if you are desperate (there are better service stations to be honest) or even a pub stop!... AVOID AVOID AVOID !!!

Absolutely disgusting behavior from the owner, stayed there as my father was ill and passed away. Paid over £150 for the time I stayed there. Last 2 nights we stayed we were put on the scrap yard as it was fully booked but still charged full price. We paid owners parents in cash and got a phone call from my cousin from the owner on the way home saying we owed money when we didn't as we paid a ridiculous amount the for time we stayed there. I'd only just picked my father's ashes up, I called to discuss the matter and was met with vile filthy threatening behavior, was told I owed 15 when he'd tried to take 45 from my cousin!!!! We paid over the odds also to stay in a scrap yard last 2 nights too. Absolutely awful behavior and disgusting man wish I could give this minus stars but it won't let me. I'd avoid this place at all cost as they try to make your family pay when youve already paid!!! Will be reporting to the caravan club and tax !!!!

Quiet,well kept,lovely views and great facilities

Great value CL, fantastic open views and the toilet block is immaculate. The free range eggs are the best I've had!
