What a wonderful meal we had, the best I have had in a long long time. Intend to go back and take our family with us. The service was perfect, the actual restaurant was cosy and inviting to eat in. I totally understand why the Chef won his award. Food freshly cooked to order. Cannot rate this highly enough. Totally value for money, We will be back again and again!

Visited on Sunday night as a last min table for 5, what a fab meal! The waitresses had a great knowledge of the menu and very attentive. All you ask for is good food and good service and we got both ~ 5* for sure!

Thank you so, so much to all the staff working on Saturday (7th April).

We were in celebrating my mum's 60th and couldn't have asked for a better night. As well as the 17 of us you had a packed night, everything went so smoothly and the food was brilliant.

I've been to Auld Raes on several occasions. I can't fault it, staff are lovely, friendly and very attentive. I am a coeliac and have to follow a gluten free diet. They have a fabulous GF menu. The battered fish and chips are absolutely amazing and a huge treat for me. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I always take Balmoral Chicken if it’s on a menu as it’s one of my favourites but I can honestly say this was the best I have ever tasted and I will be back

Had the most amazing Hogmanay night . The menu was fantastic and beautifully cooked and presented. That such a young group of people can provide such high quality service in a family atmosphere, is remarkable. The entertainment tonight was also of the highest quality from Michael of Glasville fame. ( apologies for the wife stalking you) .

Can't wait to go back to this brilliant restaurant . Thank you

Had been looking forward to returning for 3 years and was definitely on our list of must-do’s on our visit from Canada. Amazing food and was so great even with our food allergies! Thanks so much to Darren, Janice and crew!

Had an excellent meal on Saturday night with family. Poached pear wrapped in Parma ham with blue cheese bon bons to start, followed by Sea bass fillets for the main. Both courses were perfect and washed down with Tempranillo rioja :) Fast and attentive service. Nice bit of quality and class to have in the town.

Had a fabulous night last night for my birthday Alana you and the girls done fab looking after all of us, food delis everyone in my company would agree compliments to the chef , my favourite place thank you xxxxx

Had a delicious starter and main course, then a cheese board.

Starters were delicious, the scallops cooked to perfection. The mains were also cooked perfectly. Being a big fan of risotto and having Italian relatives, I was sceptical, but it was cooked al dente, and the fish was tasty and delicate. The only disappointment of the night was the white wine, which could’ve came in wine bucket with ice.( the restaurant was roasting with no A/C, so it didn’t stay Chilled for long. We also paid a lot for the cheese platter. There wasn’t enough variety, and Jacob crackers don’t really cut it. Especially when the table next to us had oat cakes. That needs to be addressed.

Apart from these things, it was a relaxed enjoyable evening. The food was 5 *****!!

Excellent food at fair and reasonable prices. Nice wine and very friendly staff.

A good selection of background music just at the right volume not to be annoying.

We will certainly be back.

Been a few times before and the food is great. Nice staff too. Had the poached pear and Parma ham starter and it was absolutely wonderful- in my own house I would have licked the plate! Balmoral chicken was beautiful, not at all dry and loads of haggis. I couldn't manage a dessert but had an Irish coffee. My partner had the haggis starter and the home made steak pie and cleared his plate both times. Says it all.

First visit to Auld Raes. Told really good traditional food. Lovely staff slightly disappointed in the monkfish special tasted more like battered haddock than the meaty fish I expected. Overall experience was good and would go back.

Dined at Auld Raes a number of times but this visit left me feeling a little disappointed. We ordered wine and requested a jug of water before ordering our meal. Starter served and cleared, main course served and had to remind staff of previously drinks order. I thought the staff may have noticed our lack of filled wine glasses on serving but perhaps they were a little tired of working a long shift. Personally I can't complain about the food but I felt we rushed our drinks with our main course instead of sipping and relaxing before being served our food.

Been a few times before and always been great, but not last night. Food was not that nice but 30min after leaving stomach pain and well I will leave the rest to your imagination and spare the blushes. Don't think we will be back in a hurry.

User

Food is good but that’s about it. Service or lack of it, is dreadful. Staff are not friendly or attentive. Very long wait to be served and between courses even though the restaurant was half empty. Not an enjoyable experience. Would not recommend.
