Absolutely awful. Gave my car back the day it was due and was charged £120 for 2 parking tickets for the car the following day as well as a £70 late return fee. Parking tickets show car was parked outside of the avis garage. Have made made multiple phone calls over 2 weeks to get the issue resolved but the office is unresponsive. Dreadful service the day the car was picked up as well. Avoid

I hired a car from Avis at East London Street for the weekend. It was pointed out to me that there was damage to 3 of the alloys, I signed the paperwork, got in the car and off I went. I returned it on Monday morning, handed the keys in, asked if I needed to do anything and was told that I could just go. 5 minutes later I received a call from one of their mechanics to say there was damage to 3 tyres. I was totally gobsmacked and went straight back to Avis. The tyres were damaged right beside the rim of the alloys. They were going to charge me £321 to replace 3 tyres! I denied liability as I know that I absolutely did not cause that damage. They are claiming that this damage is my fault, when it's clear from the photos that the damage relates directly to the pre-existing damage to the alloys. The £321 hasn't been charged to my credit card yet, but is showing as a pending transaction. Several calls to customer services and I still have no resolution. Avoid this firm. And always remember to photograph every inch of a car you hire to prevent being falsely accused of causing damage.

It was good. Nice staff and good service. At start not every scratch was noticed, but in the end there was no problem about the scratches. We had fully comprehensive insurance.

Avoid!!

Returned the car about 30min early but when I got the invoice one day extra rent was debited.. due to late return. Had to spend a lot of time to get my money back. Disaster! Also a bit expensive.

Good service from staff - good quality car in excellent condition - was cheapest by a mile when taking into accoint I was doing a onr way trip and not returning to the original Base station. National network comprehensive for pick up and return.

Charged extra with no explanation. Also left my phone holder in the tray when I returned the car. I informed them but never got a response.

Booked a car for one day. Got a very cheap offer online. Therfore, when picking up the car, we then added the full insurance. It was then very uncomplicated. Returned the keys at night in a box at the entrance.

typical car rental company of the worst kind. Suck you in with a reasonable quote and then come the add ons, extra insurance 2nd driver cover at £12 a day which would be over£4000 a year etc.etc. Really thought I was dealing with a responsible company.We try harder was their motto, yes to screw you!! Told us they were a short walk from Waverley Station, yeh right £5 in a cab. Next time we'll try Hertz. October 16.

Very handy location for me. It can be tricky to find a parking spot to leave the car if you're returning it late on a busy Sunday. You have to squeeze it in next to the others and try not to block in any of the neighbours.
