My first experience of Glasgow was the delightful Karen at Avis Glasgow Airport. After a rubbish trip and delay she stayed open way past 10.30 to get her customers booked in. She was happy, smiling and genuinely delightful, thanks Karen you made my day!

Despite the negative reviews, I had no problems whatsoever with AVIS @ Glasgow Airport during my 7 days rental. They even managed to recover me efficiently after I had a flat tire.

To be honest, after reading reviews here, I almost changed car companies prior to our trip. However, we did not. We arrived at the desk on the morning of July 12 exhausted and Ann helped us. She was a DELIGHT. She was upbeat and efficient. Ann was our first interaction in Scotland and she was a GREAT ambassador for the country. Seriously, don't let her go. Give her a raise!

Very capable and responsive staff. We had a mix-up on the return date of of our vehicle, and the manager there could not have been more patient or helpful.

Did not honor reservation or insurance through expedia. Rude and over charged me because I had no other options. Expedia said it would cost $255. They charged me $861.

Arrived and kept in a line up for ages. Computer system not working. Then sent out to the parking lot office. They attempted to start the paperwork and then told me that Expedia had not processed payment and there was no car. Not happy and took a picture of the guy behind the desk, who then physically assulted me and demanded I delete the picture or he would call the police. This is the most hostile and aggressive company I have ever dealt with, in any part of Europe, Scandinavia or North America. We ended up going to another rental company who were much more friendly and provided us with a car. I would not recommend Avis to anyone at this location.

If it were possible to give zero I would. Absolutely DIRE service. I left a possession in the car on return and tried and failed for a whole week to:

1) Call them out of hours - multiple times. At one point I was on hold for 25 minutes and no one ever answered the phone
2) Go through central customer services, who seemed to think that if they called the branch when I was on the phone, that it would work. It didn't - they didn't answer
3) Send them emails - multiple times. None of which they ever responded to

Despite me telling them the possession was sensitive, I was completely ignored. I still do not know whether they found my item, as I can't get through to them, and neither can their company

The people working there should be fired

Such slow service - spending 15 minutes on each customer and there is a HUGE queue - they need more staff and more efficient processes

I am trying to get 200 pounds out of Avis in Sheffield. They charged my credit card 200 quid when I picked up the car. I had a slight accident in Aberdeen and was charged 351 pounds, when I dropped the car off in Glasgow. Now Avis in Sheffield are telling me that I was only charged 151 quid, even though my credit card statement says otherwise. Wouldn't use them again.

Booked car with my BA flight, seemed good value but when I picked it up discovered £1,000 excess. They wanted another £90 to reduce the excess to zero, declined. Returned the car one hour early and they tried to charge me an additional £73. After over an hour on the phone and at the desk got this omitted. All these extras should be made clear at the time of booking. Trying to get through to anyone on the phone and navigate the menu options is a nightmare. Overall, a dreadful experience.

Very displeased. Brakes were bollocks and electrics kept playing up. Went for return and was asked to pay again when records did not line up. Please do not waste your our time.
