Avva (noun) A respected grandmother, a respected mother, or any elderly woman who commands respect through experience.
Avva Scottish Gin takes its name from the Indian language of Dravidian. It nods to our still, Jessie-Jean (or J-J for short) which is named after Master Distiller Jill Brown’s grandmothers.
J-J is a bespoke 250 litre copper gin still. Being based in Elgin, the capital of the world-renowned Speyside region, meant that J-J could be crafted right on our distillery doorstep (or to be more precise, across the road) by Speyside Copper Works. We are immensely proud that J-J was the first gin still crafted in Scotland to be used for the small batch gin industry - a UK first.
Avva Scottish Gin is everything a small batch gin should be. It is an exclusive combination of 11 local, native and traditional botanicals, including 5 locally sourced: rowan, red clover, mint, dandelion and nettle - hand-foraged by Jill. J-J distills these quality ingredients into an exceptionally smooth London Dry Gin, where the juniper lead notes blend with floral botanicals, finishing with a clear citrus mint.
Around 200 bottles are distilled for each batch - all filled and labelled by hand at the distillery. Bottling at 43% ensures that Avva remains Elgin’s premium gin.

Tried Avva gin for the first time today at the Orkney Gin Festival and loved it. Glad to know that it is stocked locally.
Treated ourselves to a bottle of Avva Navy Strength Gin from Nairn Show and absolutely loved it. Will definitely be replacing the bottle once it's empty...which I don't think will be too long!
Such a refreshing gin with some fever tree and a slice of lemon � lovely presented bottle too. I like the story behind AVVA’s name.
One of the finest gin’s I have tasted, in fact it is probably my favourite. Lovely soft subtle flavours, very drinkable. I can also recommend the Raspberry Liqueur. Well done Jill.

I purchased the Avva at Elgin market along with the Rhubarb liqueur. Both are stunning flavours. The liqueur in a prosecco is pretty good!
I got this as a present from the girls at work & I love it! I've even managed to change my mum to now drink gin after trying this one!! I also bought her a bottle fur Xmas which she loves & now a converted Gin drinker!! ��
Hand delivered to my husbands work for my Christmas present. I have been drinking Gin for 20+ years and this is one of the finest I've tasted.

Ice and a slice with tonic, excellent flavours, now to try with different combinations, will need another bottle soon.
Amazing Gin. Would highly recommend. Jill is fantastic at what she does. Very nice indeed as well as the navy strength tastes good with tonic, ice and lime
