As part of HM Coastguard, Ayr Coastguard Rescue Team are volunteers who are on call 24 /7 to respond to incidents on or near the coast.

Ayr Coastguard Rescue Team Description

Ayr Coastguard Rescue Team is one of 352 Coastguard Teams of HM Coastguard situated around the UK
The Team is made up of 10 Coastguard Rescue Officers who are all volunteers and have normal day jobs who are on call via a pager system, 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year to assist persons in distress,
The Team is tasked by Belfast Coastguard Operations Centre (CGOC) who are responsible for the Initiation, coordination, mobilisation, organisation and tasking of adequate resources to persons at risk of injury or death at sea, on the cliffs and coastline.

We are trained in search techniques as well as Rope and Water Rescue. We regularly work with other partner agencies including the RNLI, Police Scotland, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the Scottish Ambulance Service.
