So glad to report that the concert went really well. A lovely audience who seemed to enjoy the music making as much as the choir. So glad to report that the concert went really well. A lovely audience who seemed to enjoy the music making as much as the choir.

Looking foward, not back, today as we enter the run-up to the choir spring concert. The Choir of Ayrshire Voices presents its spring concert on the theme of CONTINENTAL CONNECTIONS on SATURDAY 13TH APRIL 2019 in HOLY TRINITY CHURCH, FULLARTON STREET AYR at 7.30pm. We are celebrating European Choral Classics which have enriched and sustained singers for many years and continue to inspire and move us today. Here is a programme of some of the greatest and most lasting pieces of ...music which have always, and will always, be our connection to the great western European choral tradition which impacts on our lives as singers and listeners. Handel - Coronation Anthems: The King Shall Rejoice/Zadok The Priest. Schubert - Variations on The Trout (Die Forelle). Wagner- Pilgrims' Chorus (Tannhauser). Mascagni - Easter Hymn (Cavalleria Rusticana).
Join us for a programme of glorious music for voices which resonates across the centuries in the ideal acoustic of Holy Trinity Church on 13th April. ♡Marilyn♡

Today’s Flashback Friday takes us back to Marilyn's 60th birthday when we had a concert for an invited audience of friends and family with former students from the world of professional music and theatre performing and other musician colleagues on violin and cello in voice/instrument ensembles. Our own Alison played piano. A Hallowe’en-themed buffet was enjoyed afterwards.

This week’s Throwback Thursday is more of a Thankyou Thursday to our wonderful accompanist Alison Christie. Alison has been with us through thick and thin, a crucial member of our team, whose musical expertise has been invaluable through thr years. We’d be lost without her. A million thankyous, Alison!

Throwback Thursday returns this week to summer 2018 and features the "singing roundel" which now adorns the rear wall at our Prestwick studio. Made by Marilyn with her own fair hands, it reflects the AV ethos in quotes from poems....

No flashback this week but an up-to-the-minute pic of Artistic Director Marilyn de Blieck accompanying our current Studio volunteer Zahra Atay as she receives her Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award certificate in a major Awards presentation in Ayr yesterday evening. Zahra's voluntary work at the Studio is enabling real progress with our Heritage project charting the many years of singing work in the Ayrshire community undertaken by AV and associated performance groups - Opera We...st, Ayr Intimate Opera, Ayrshire Youth Opera and all the way back to the Arran Choir and beyond! This historic performance archive will be held as an official collection at Ayrshire Archives documenting an important thread of classical music in Ayrshire. Zahra is continuing her volunteer work with us as she progresses to her Silver Award, digitising the photographic record before it goes into the collection, and experiencing many other "back-office" functions which are essential to the running of the current musical programme. She is a very welcome addition to the voluntary team!

Flashback to November 2014 and younger choir members performing "In Flanders" - a special afternoon event in Ayr Town Hall Chamber to commemorate the start of World War 1. Music, prose and poetry were brought together in a programme devised and directed by Marilyn de Blieck which recalled the thoughts and writings of men and women caught up in the war. Moving and memorable.
