Balanced Equine - Producing a mentally and physically balanced equine. We are a small, friendly, professional backing, schooling and livery yard based between St Andrews and Cupar in Fife.

Balanced Horsemanship is a small, friendly, professional backing and schooling yard based between Cupar and St Andrews in Fife, Scotland. Balanced Horsemanship is run by Joanna Heaton holder of the Monty Roberts Preliminary Certificate of Horsemanship.

Joanna is originally from Leicestershire where she grew up on a farm surrounded by animals and ponies. She progressed through the pony club and evented her own horse. She attended Brooksby Melton College where she gained her National Diploma in Horse Management before heading to Ireland where she worked with sports horses, hunters and racehorses. Joanna then headed to Australia where she worked on a flat racing yard for twelve months. On returning to the UK Joanna studied with Kelly Marks and Intelligent Horsemanship to gain her MRPCH. She has since worked with a variety of competition horses in Ireland, Spain and South Africa before settling in Scotland.

Balanced Horsemanship is based at Thornbank Stables in Blebo Craigs. It is a very peaceful setting with seven large, airy boxes, year round turn out, a rubber surfaced outdoor arena with excellent drainage, a round pen and excellent hacking.

A variety of services are offered including backing, bringing on, handling and schooling. There are a limited number of grass and full liveries at the yard.

This page will also follow the progress of Lady Brave, Joanna’s horse. Lady Brave is a 2011, Irish Sports Horse by Rockrimmon Robusticus. Joanna has owned her since July 2015 and is bringing her on slowly with the intention to event her. Lady Brave’s competitive career got off to a fantastic stat at the end of 2015 with her winning the 4 year old Scottish Loose Jumping Championships.
