Balerno Village Nursery

Balerno Village Nursery has been established for over 18 years, we are a small community Day Nursery offering AM /PM and All Day Sessions from £20. 00 .

Early Childcare Centre that engages with the Children through a family based ethos,
all staff have an understanding of the stages of children's development and appropriate learning. We provide all our children with the support, care and good quality interaction, thus developing a high quality learning centre through play and structured planned learning outcomes, that have been developed through detailed child let responsive planning, we ensure each child is engaged in their own learning plans. Staff interact with the children in a way that develops confidence and encourages value to be recognised through the children's contributions.

A Caring Environment

All parent, carers and children will receive information about the aims and values of the service we provide. All staff will actively promote these aims and values. We have a clear code of conduct that is understood by staff, parents and children. We provide an all inclusive service that promotes mutual respect, trust, confidence and our care ethics are evident. Children are happy and confident learners at the Village Nursery, taking into account their individual needs.

Support and Development
All staff respond appropriately to support and develop children's emotional and physical needs, supporting the child and families requirements. We have good relationships with the local Nursery and School providing an escort service so parents can access both services providing reliable wrap around care for working parents. We support students from the local High School that wish to do work experience in the childcare sector by offering them placements.

Confidence in staff

All staff have relevant Childcare qualifications to meet the required Care Inspectorate requirements, also we are all registered with the Scottish Social Service Council, staff attend regular training opportunities to ensure good practice. The staff team has over 60 years experience in childcare and are effective in identifying and monitoring development needs in line with national and local guidelines. The setting complies with the Care Inspectorate adult to child ratios as set out below: -

Birth to 2 Years = 1 adult to 3 children

Age 2-3 = 1 adult to 3 children,

Age 3-5 = 1 adult to every 8 children.


Involving other Services

Balerno Village Nursery has strong links within the local community offering a wrap around care service to and from Dean Park Nursery, so working effectively with other organisations to provide an all inclusive service for parents, carers and children. We pride ourselves on offering hours tailored to parents needs at affordable rates in a high quality learning environment.

We run twice weekly WOODLAND ADVENTURE SESSIONS using the fabulous surrounding countryside to broaden our knowledge of the world around us developing more interactive curriculum.

We also run two weekly JO JINGLES MUSIC SESSIONS and MINI KICKERS SESSIONS for all children aged between 2-5.
