Balhousie Care Group

About Balhousie Care Group

Balhousie is Scotland's leading provider of care for the elderly, with 25 care homes in the East of Scotland. Care is at the forefront of all that we do.

Balhousie Care Group Description

As we get older, we all have our own specific care and support needs. Here at Balhousie Care, our team is passionate about delivering the highest quality care and support to our residents, ensuring that our homes really are a 'home-from-home'.

‘The Balhousie Way’ is our own little term which describes the way in which we like to run our homes. Always with care at our core, always with our residents in mind.

We treat all of our residents as individuals and appreciate that each one is unique, with different likes, dislikes, needs and care requirements. Each of our twenty-five care homes reflect this and aim to cater for the specific care needs of every resident.

Our nursing, care and support staff are our core, they're what makes us tick as an organisation. They are on the front line of contact with our residents; always there, providing genuine care, no matter what. It is impossible to measure their contribution to our organisation and without them, we simply could not function.

“We have input over what we cook at home, so why wouldn’t care home residents be involved in what’s on the menus? This is their home, after all, not ours.” D. Blackwood. As part of #DementiaAwareweek our hospitality services manager David Blackwood led a 2 day intensive food and nutrition conference for our in home chefs and home managers. David explains "to provide great care at all levels, we must place ourselves in our residents shoes and try to experience things from their perspective." Here's some of the group experiencing a range of sight impairments. #BalhousieCare #DAW19

Conversation and communication has been flowing throughout our #carehomes today as we ask our teams and residents what matters to them. Our folks in Crieff approached the question by using a range of techniques to aid effective communication, which included making eye contact, actively listening, allowing time to answer and taking notes on their findings. Team members then shared their own #WhatMattersToYou statements to help build upon their working relationships in the home. Well done Team Dalnaglar! #BalhousieCare #WMTY19 

How good are your listening skills? Do you simply hear or are you actively listening? In order to truly care for and support our fellow man, we must firstly know what matters to each individual we #care for. #BalhousieCare is joining hands around #Scotland today by asking the question "what matters to you?" #WMTY19 What Matters To You?
