Ballater Self-Catering Description
Two unique self-catering cottages near village centre with all its amenities. Pine Tree has a decked patio with table and chairs to allow visitors to make the most of the sun. Sycamore was built recently to a high standard with underfloor heating and a charming wood-burning stove. Both cottages are one-bedroomed, spacious and ideal for couples. Pine Tree has a king-size bed and a single bed, while Sycamore has a double bed. Pine Tree is wheelchair-accessible and has been graded as 'Disabled with Assistance', with ramp access via the patio and wide doorways throughout the property. Free wi-fi is available in both cottages. We have a strictly non-smoking policy. Sorry, we do not accommodate pets.
We are a small business and have many happy returning visitors. Visitor book comments include: "Here we are back again for the seventh time, it is just like coming home. The cottage is just as good as ever, clean, warm and cosy".
Ballater is a vibrant village with local pubs, a bank, a tourist office and post office as well as an enticing deli and the award-winning Sheridans butchers, not to mention varied and interesting restaurants, cafes and shops, some with Royal warrants. The village is also home to the recently reconstructed and soon to be reopened Old Royal Railway Station. There are many castles in the area, including Balmoral, and the Royal Lochnagar Distillery is a short drive away. There is golf at the Ballater course and in neighbouring villages, cycling (bike-hire in village), fishing, hill-walking, mountain climbing or even skiing, weather permitting, for energetic days. The local nature reserves such as Loch Muick and the Mar Lodge estate (featured on Winterwatch) allow you to explore the stunning natural surroundings and get away from it all.
