About Balloch O Dee Campsite

A laid back, hidden away campsite near Newton Stewart in Dumfries and Galloway. Camping for tents, caravan hook ups, and unique glamping accommodation.

Balloch O Dee Campsite Description

Welcome to the Balloch O Dee Campsite Facebook page

General Information
Balloch O Dee Campsite is set in stunning countryside on a small farm close to the Galloway National Forest park.

The emphasis is on peace and tranquility with some added interests and activities to make your stay hopefully a little more memorable. We have plenty of space for tents as well as electric hookups for touring caravans.

We also have indoor accommodation available such as The Ranch House - which sleeps 6 people and has en-suite shower and toilet facilities. The Bothy which sleeps 5 people, The Roundhouse which sleeps 4 and Bluebell which also sleeps 4 people. All our indoor accommodation is a little bit different and a little bit quirky.

The site is complimented by lovely hot showers and clean candle lit toilets.

The campsite, has ponies and hens roaming 'free range' on the site. All of the animals are very friendly and give a wonderful opportunity for children and adults to interact with them in a very natural environment.

We love our campfires at Balloch O Dee and you are welcome to have a campfire whenever you like. There are plenty of fire-pits dotted all over the site and plenty of sustainable hardwood available on site at all times and outdoor cooking is positively encouraged with many cooking stations and grills available free for you to use.

Children (and adults) are welcome to help out with any of the animals if they wish from pony rides around the field to mucking out and collecting eggs there is always plenty to do on the farm.

We sometimes run Bushcraft and wild food foraging sessions for all ages throughout the summer months and hold an annual music weekend every year at the end of September and we are always on the look out for interesting groups and activities to enhance your stay.

A bit of feed back would be greatly appreciated.
We are thinking about having a country music weekend at some point next summer at Balloch O Dee. Maybe have it themed so we can dress up as cowboys and cowgirls ☺️and get some country bands playing over the weekend. Bit of line dancing. Would anyone be interested in such and event?

The Bothy at Balloch O Dee was an old cow shed which we converted into guest accommodation a few years back. It has 3 single beds and one double. It also has a big dinning table and a huge log burning range cooker. It is perfect for a cosy winter get away for couples, families or groups and from now until February it's on special winter rates of just £40 per night all in. www.ballochodee.com

Don't forget, Balloch O Dee is open all year round and all of the indoor accommodation is on special discounted winter rates until February. ☃️ www.ballochodee.com

We had a fantastic weekend at the campsite, it was our first time ever camping and we couldn't have chosen a better site! The weather wasn't the best but we still had fun, the kids enjoyed getting muddy, helping out with the horses and toasting marshmallows on the fire Everyone was very friendly, we will definitely be back! x

User

The best, chilled atmosphere, with the most fabulous quirky accommodation! We stayed in the roundhouse, which was a magical experience we can't wait to repeat! A wee treat to take a break from the real world in such beautiful surroundings. Also, amazing place for star gazing!

User

Such a beautiful site, superbly managed with great facilities. The free range animals are so content and curious, I loved sharing their space. Thank you!

User

So glad I found this hidden gem. Totally chilled wee break in The Bothy. Hazel was a perfect host and the facilities were ideal. My 5 yr old was heartbroken when we had to leave......so a return visit will definitely be on the cards for us. Thanks to all at Balloch O Dee

User

On our way home from the most wonderful break. Love how relaxed this site makes you feel. Amazing quirky facilities. Kids loved having horses roam around and the idea of the chickens venturing into the shower with them, one nearly did. I loved cooking on an open fire and sitting out watching the odd bat fly about. Will be back bringing our tent next time and certainly booking more than 3 days. X

User

Loved it, great weekend. Second time, so friendly and welcoming. Will be back. Xc

User

Just home after a lovely weekend. The weather was pretty good mostly, a bit of rain but nothing to complain of. The staff were friendly and a huge thank you to the girls who let my 3 kids help groom, bring the ponies in night for the night and carry the chickens. We had tears when we left this morning as they missed this mornings pony grooming!! Our only complaint is the bloody midgies (nothing we haven't experienced before) but if YOU haven't, you really must come prepared to be eaten alive if you do not have repellant. They are enough to make a grown man cry lol. Would highly recommend this campsite if you wish for a relaxing peaceful break. It's in the middle of nowhere but wow what a view!!! X

User

Jaime and Hazel have a wonderful set up with working small farm and paddock. Kids were safe and sound to explore. Helping out with the horses was encouraged. Tent pitches are great with open fires and firewood available to buy. Fresh eggs from happy hens and ducks. Thanks again!
