Fantastic to see literary translators getting the recognition they deserve. Now, what about all these mavericks who can handle specialised medical or technical texts within days?

Unfortunately entirely in Polish, but still an interesting interview with a Polish ex-teacher and interpreter who wrote a book based on her experiences from Leeds. Good observations in the comments section too.

Employment Tribunal fees scrapped in the UK! A historic victory for Unison.
Can we also take this opportunity to encourage anyone working for British public bodies to join a trade union, as the more members there are in your workplace, the stronger you are. Interpreters, take note.
Legal assistance is also available.

All these things you learn when translating medical documents. Fluid Meeting Spaces as a name of a flexible work space. Very brave indeed.

Recent surveys by the Chartered Institute of Linguists and The Association of Translation Companies gave a clear indication the translation industry might be very sensitive to Brexit.
On 29th September in Falkirk linguists (and the general public) will have a chance to discuss it in more detail during an event organised by the Central Scotland Regional Equality Council and hosted by John McNally MP.
The event is open to all.
