Bamff Wildland And Ecotourism
About Bamff Wildland And Ecotourism
Beautiful Scottish eco estate with beaver project. Stay in a cottage, yurt or wood cabin.
Bamff Wildland And Ecotourism Description
After 15 years of successfully letting Bamff Old Brewhouse as self catering accommodation, we expanded last year adding the Gate Lodge, a two bedroom cottage within yards of Britain's most spectacular beaver wetland, The Beaver Hideaway, a hide with a double bed for romantic nocturnal wildlife watching overlooking two beaver ponds; and two beautiful Mongolian yurts in the wooded area at the back of the castle. Booking can be done through our website: www. bamff. co. uk
Bamff, a small estate on the edge of the Scottish highlands in east Perthshire, has been home to the Ramsay family since 1232. In the last thirty years, Paul and Louise Ramsay have managed the land with emphasis on ecological restoration; planting native woods, restoring wetlands and reintroducing beavers. The result is an extraordinary and stunning resurgence in nature: plants, birds, mammals, fish, amphibians, insects and fungi; attracting biologists, journalists, nature photographers, wildlife enthusiasts and tourists. See http://beaversatbamff. blogspot. co. uk / for more details.

Huge news! Scottish beavers will be legally protected from 1st May!
Remember summer?

Our yurts are well insulated and cosy in winter, provided you keep the wood stove going. The fairy tale castle (aka Bamff House) looks romantic at this distance.
Up the hill at Bamff on Monday. Good days in winter are hard to beat for hill walking.
UPDATE! It is now gone. But come another time!
Get away from Brexit, celebrate love. The Hideaway is still available on Valentine's Day. Off grid, offline, no mobile reception, beaver-made bed! Cosy up by the wood burning stove in a cabin in the woods to the hoots of tawny owls and under millions of stars. Book here: http://www.bamff.co.uk/hideaway-glamping- scotland/

Thank you, lovely guests, for all your kind reviews and high ratings.
In 2018, as part of our move towards a more resilient, biodiverse landscape, we removed 250 sheep from 100 hectares of hill and planted half of it with native trees: Scots pine, sessile and pedunculate oak, downy and silver birch, juniper, hawthorn, holly, hazel and rowan. The other half will be planted this year. Here are Paul and Sophie inspecting the new wood.
2019 brings plans for a new off-grid cabin, a University of Oxford conference about Rewilding, and the proper lau...nch of our honesty shop and cafe available to walkers on the Cateran Trail. Oh, and a baby.
Thank you to everyone who came in 2018. We look forward to welcoming many guests again in 2019 - please visit www.bamff.co.uk for bookings. Happy New Year - may you all flourish!

What a lovely setting, I stayed in the Hideaway last night with my two wee ones.....we had such a magical experience and will most certainly be back!
PS The lovely owners had the stove lit well before we arrived, pure bliss arriving to a warm cabin at this time of year!
We had a great couple of nights in The Hideaway. Beaver watching was very successful. The accommodation is very comfortable and very well thought out. I wish we'd booked a third night so that we could have explored more of the woods and walks. Never mind, we will just have to come back!
Just returned from our 2nd visit to the yurts and loved it just as much as the first time. Always something new to discover and so peaceful. Brilliant facilities and everything well thought out. Thanks to Chris for our tour and beaver watch. Already thinking when can we come back!
Just enjoyed two fabulous nights in the Yurt with my 3 year old.
I've visited the Estate twice last year. Stayed in the yurt and loved it. Both Paul and Louise are so welcoming and friendly. Beautiful place to stay and magical. Yurts are so cosy and comfortable....best sleep. Facilities are great and the scenery ius stunning.
Would highly recommend a visit and the beaver walk with Paul is not to be missed. He is such a knowledgeable host.
Will definitely be back this year
I love coming here one of the most peaceful places to come to and relax away from reality. Stayed at the Gate Lodge twice now and will be back many many more times! I never want to leave. If the lodge is ever for sale let me know haha!
Had a fantastic break staying in the North Yurt last week! We got some great weather, the yurt is really cozy and perfect for a break away from work. Louise and Paul are lovely, the beaver walks are very interesting and the facilities provided for the yurts are brilliant, especially for those who aren't quite camping enthusiasts. Will definitely recommend and have at the top of my list for places to return.
Geweldig stekje.
Ben 2 nachten in de hideaway geweest. Tikkie camperen, maar wel midden in de natuur. (Sorry Tim, volgende keer dame mee!)
Another thoroughly enjoyable trip to Bamff. Stayed over in the hideaway. Saw a beaver swimming in the pool. Louise and Paul made us feel so welcome. This is a great place for a quiet, off-grid retreat.
Absolutely loved our time in the hideaway. Everything you needed was there. Bed was warm and comfortable. Paul and Louise are very friendly and the shared facilities very comfortable. The shower in the wet room is brill. The only thing I'd say is the hideaway does need insulated for this time of year. Would make a huge difference as it was very cold late at night and in the morning. I'd imagine it being absolutely perfect in the warmer months. Heard a lot of beaver activity but wasn't lucky enough to see one. Will definitely be back next year in the warmer weather.
