Positive Mental Attitude!
We have alot of experience with people who have suffered with chronic pain.
... One thing that we see time and time again is that those patients with an optimistic attitude do much better than those who don't.
This phenomenon has been proven with research time and time again, that if you maintain a positive mental attitude you are more likely to heal faster and your immune system can actually improve leading to better health all over.*
So my Tuesday top tip is that if you believe that you will get better you are more likely to! So have faith!

Drink more water!
Dehydration can lead to many detrimental changes in the body. Muscles can become tighter and less flexible, spinal discs can lose their height, your brain can shrink(!) and many more things that all could result in pain.

TAKING CARE...
Often when people come to us in acute pain, it isn't because they have tried to lift a piano or have been hit by a bus...
... Most commonly it is because they have spent a few hours in the garden without a break, sat at their desk for 5 hours straight or bent down to pick something up off the floor whilst thinking about something else.
Our top tip today is to try and be a little more mindful of how you move in your more mundane tasks. We all focus on our technique and posture when we are lifting something heavy or running a marathon, but forget that the things we do day-to-day are just as likely to cause us problems, especially as we rush through life!
Take care in how you move, whatever you are doing!

STRESS...
That word is thrown around so often isn't it?
... To get to my top tip about stress I need to give you a very brief background on my interpretation of stress...
Back when we were cave people, "stress" was almost always caused by a serious threat to life (bear, sabre tooth tiger etc!) so when we sensed danger, our bodies immediately go into "fight or flight" mode. This involves certain muscles tightening up preparing to fight for our life, or get the hell out of there.
Nowadays, unless you're Bear Grylls, it's unlikely you'll come across any sabre tooth tigers in your daily life.
The sort of stress we expose ourselves to these days is a constant, low grade stress that plays havoc with the way our muscles function. We tend to put ourselves in a constant "prepared to fight" mode which eventually leads to long term muscle and joint restrictions and eventually pain.
There are a thousand things you can do to reduce your stress levels!
In most cases you will know what you need to do to reduce your daily stress, so telling you HOW to reduce stress isn't the point of this post.
My top tip around stress? Know that it almost CERTAINLY is contributing to your pain levels, and this has been proven repeatedly by research.
Reducing your stress away might not completely solve your problem, but reduce your stress and reduce your pain levels, it's that simple!
