Bangley Quarry Biogas is an anaerobic digestion (AD) plant situated in East Lothian, Scotland. The plant is currently under construction and due for completion in 2024. When operational, it will produce 1, 100m3 /hr biomethane, more than enough gas to supply the entire nearby town of Haddington (population around 10, 000). Bangley Quarry Biogas is jointly owned by GFD and SWEN Capital Partners. With over 14 years' experience, GFD are one of the most experienced developers in the renewable gas market in the UK and Ireland. SWEN Capital Partners are a leading European source of investment in private equity projects, currently responsible for more than €6. 7 billion of sustainable assets. Bangley Quarry Biogas will be at the forefront of the Scottish Circular economy: • All feedstocks, such as grass silage, energy beet and whole crop cereals will be sourced locally, supporting the local economy. • 100, 000, 000 kWh of biomethane will be produced each year, enough to supply up to 8, 000 homes locally. • 10, 000 tonnes of liquefied CO2 will be produced each year for use in the Scottish food and beverage sector and other industries. • 70, 000 tonnes per annum of biofertiliser will be produced for use in local farms, replacing fossil-derived fertilisers.
