Our latest exhibition by Glasgow-based artist Nicky Baron is running until the 15th May. ‘After the Rain’ is a series of abstracted landscapes, concerned with creating a mood. Nicky “became interested in how a landscape can evoke feelings in a subtle, yet impactful way”.🎨

Nicky Baron - After the Rain

User

Glasgow-based artist Nicky Baron is a Fine Art graduate, who studied at Duncan of Jordanstone and Brighton College of Art. Her work has been seen in both group and solo exhibitions, most notably at the Crypt Gallery ad the Barbican Arts Centre in London, and more recently, at the R.G.I Annual Exhibition and at Charles Rennie Mackintosh's Scotland Street School Museum in Glasgow.
'After the Rain' is a series of abstracted landscapes concerned with creating a mood. Nicky says t...hat she became interested in how a landscape can evoke feelings in a subtle, yet impactful way. 'My work has become more contemplative and inward-looking... imaginary landscapes convey loneliness and loss, but also acceptance, joy and wonder. The Scottish landscape is inextricably intertwined through every childhood memory that I possess, so it came naturally to me to use it, and it's ever-changing weather, to express how I was feeling.'

A great turn out last night at Joe O'Brien’s exhibition! We have the pleasure of showing his work until 10th April if you couldn’t make it along to the opening.

A thirst quencher - Saison Dupont! This is a highly aromatic beer, tart with citrus and bodes well as we move into Spring.🌷 It’s coppery-blonde in colour with a chunky head of froth, goes well with most main courses and perfectly compliments our Gandolfi Cheese Board. 🧀

You can always expect consistency when you visit Gandolfi. I have been coming here for decades. Love having brunch here. Last night I had my usual pastrami with Swiss cheese and gratin dauphinoise with a large Chilean Merlot. And a lovely espresso cocktail with my cappuccino. It must be said this is the best cappuccino in Glasgow. Don't change a thing it's perfect just the way it is

User

We went for breakfast. It is a beautiful interior with tables and chairs that are works of art in their own right. The welcome was warm and the food was delicious.

User

We had a wonderful dinner here. Food was great and great service too.

User

We had a great meal and as usual everything was absolutely exceptional. Easily the best in the merchant city.

User

Totally spot on in every way.

Mussels and chilli sauce, oysters with a rough tiny shallot side and the necessary Tabasco followed by a beautifully cooked filet of sea bass with crispy edges and an excellent bottle of Verdejo.

We will be back........so will the lovely Marseilles friends we met!

User

The best!! Been coming here for 25 or more years. NEVER disappointed by anything and it doesn't test on its laurels. Always reinventing, refreshing the menu. Keeps the favourites, (pastrami on rye) for always, fabulous wines, fabulous staff, cracking cocktails. Eclectic and electric. Ambience unmatched anywhere else. As I said - The Best. Well done Seamus and the team. We love you.

Love this place we come here every time we are in Glasgow.

User

I used to come here 20+ years ago and it was the first go to place on moving back to Glasgow. I especially like loitering in the upstairs bar - suitably casual yet with the same wonderful food and ambiance!!

User

I picked this restaurant out from a Google maps search and boy did I score a home run! The food, decor, ambiance and service was top notch. I tried haggis for the first time ever and I was simply amazed at how good it was, it is a must try at this restaurant. If you are in Glasgow and are looking for great food with super friendly service you simply must book a reservation here, you will not be disappointed. This is a must do food experience in Scotland.

User

I love this place and have since I first went about thirty years ago. Never had anything short of excellent food and service in a great atmosphere

User

I arrived late, after 10pm, after a train journey, and they apologised that the chef had left but said I could have a "light meal" This turned out to be a hearty soup followed by haggis, neeps and tatties with a pint of beer. Excellent recovery meal after my journey and so friendly and helpful.

User

Had a super early meal on 28th December. Tasty pastrami and a huge piece of Finnan Haddock washed down with a decent light red. Cheese and Ice cream for afters (sorry no wafers with ice though ) however got some chocolate buttons. Friendly staff. Never disappointed.

User

Great party here at the weekend. Lovely food, lovely staff & service. Couldn't fault it.

User

Great menu, yummy food, friendly staff, great service!

User

Great atmosphere . Good food and service.

User

For a great food experience it's a great place, best time with friends over a lazy lunch, Beir Moretti and some good food, served in a unique setting, often beside the rich and famous.

User

Fantastic staff especially Seamus the owner!!! Lovely cozy atmosphere and great food!! Highly recommended!!

User

User

User

Excellent staff , relaxed environment, beautiful food and amazing refreshments

User

Excellent eatery in the heart of Glasgow, friendly staff and great food!

User

Excellent brekkie - and if you read the webpages and menu carefully - popular and care taken to make it taste right. We have been a few Sunday mornings and it's always amazing. Try the Bacon on Brioche with maple for a lip smacking start to the day or anything with the black pudding. Always recommend booking as it's well known as a great place

User

Dropped by yesterday with my daughters for a Birthday lunch had black pudding on a pancake with mushrooms....delicious! (which was from the starter menu) serving size was huge ! Great food, great value, great service and lovely lovely staff .

User

Disappointed that the White pudding and Apple had been removed from the menu . Excellent service from all the staff, welcoming relaxing ambience . 👍

User

Couldn’t fault it. Firstly, we didn’t book, but they found us a table. Service was exceptional. Food was marvellous, perfect for a hungover couple. Decor was quaint. Enjoyed it so much we left a 20% tip. Don’t get that very often these days. A must for people in search of a hearty breakfast in Glasgow

User

Brunch today at Bar Gandolfi. Best porridge I have in years plus Stornoway Black pudding on a pancake with mushrooms and a couple of lovely coffees. Excellent

User

Best french toast I have ever had :-) The staff were also excellent and I will definitely be back

User

Best breakfast in Glasgow , great service

User

As always friendly obliging staff and good food. We were a party of 10 with 2 babies. A table was quickly organised for us and 2 high chairs brought. Everyone enjoyed a delicious breakfast.

User

2nd time in here and loved it again.super friendly service and lovely atmosphere. I can highly recommend the Cullen skink and the haggis.both fine and hearty Scottish food at its very best.

User

went in for drinks up top of stairs..staff lovely and so was the wine ..

User

The food was amazing and the service was very good and friendly

User

Nice wee find in the Merchant City.

A bit cramped but the food was good, bar the barely ripe avocado with my excellent venison. The wine was of good quality, for the price.

I'd go back when I 'm next in Glasgow.

User

My favourite place for a bottle of lovely wine! (And the restaurant downstairs is my favourite place to dine) Only reason I didn't give it five stars was the service - we waited quite a while and only managed to get served by attracting the attention of the barman. Noticed three other tables which were all served before us even although they had arrived after us. I will say that this is unusual as service is normally great. Lovely atmosphere and can recommend The Black Shiraz!

User

Great service great welcome great staff food also good I will be back

User

Food was of a high quality and the staff friendly, nice interior, would go back again.

User

Excellent food and drink. Highly recommended. Had many a splendid (long) lunch in very relaxing ambience.

User

Nothing special and way overpriced for what it was. I felt I could cook better at home! Staff were pleasant and it's a good location in the Merchant City. I doubt I would go back.
