Barker & Hound

As much as I love doing field, woodland and beach shoots, I’m thinking of opening up once a month to a special location slot. This would be planned in advance, and the location would be an iconic area in Scotland, such as Glen Etive or Loch Lomond! The package price would stay the same, but additional travel costs would apply.
I’d absolutely love to do a Glen Coe shoot! 🏔

Today, I had an unusual week day off. I went on an adventure and done a one off canine shoot at a very magical location.
Guess where? 🥾🐾 Photos will be posted tomorrow!

I am thinking of doing a facts and questions page on my website that discusses Canine photography, what’s involved and some common worries or misconceptions of photographing dogs, like ‘my dog has to be on a harness, or my dog wouldn’t sit still for a photograph!!’ I may even do one for equine sessions too and how best to prepare your pony for a shoot.

Look how bloody gorgeous this boy is?!
This is little Olly, the Border Collie. Olly and his mum had their shoot at the weekend which was a Barker & Hound Christmas gift for Rachel. We walked for hours along Avon Glen, chatting mostly about dogs (I mean, what else is there to talk about?!) and Olly loved playing in the woods, in the fields and in the water as we walked. He was fully taking advantage of this new place to explore!
... Olly is such a playful pup, he even took a little dip in the Avon river and was trying to catch the bubbles that were caused by the river's current. It was WAY TOO CUTE!
Try not get lost in these amazing eyes!

I had the pleasure of taking this gorgeous lady a short walk with her doting mum.
At 14 years old and initially trained as a guide dog, Cassie has impressive manners and is a typical lab - a big softie. She won’t move from a spot until Kathleen tells her, a cup of tea could be made, and you’d return to see Cassie sitting exactly where you left her. I wish my dog had this level of willpower in her!
... Kathleen has a special relationship with Cassie, and you can see how close they are when they’re together. It really makes you love and appreciate the happiness and comfort dogs can bring to your life, during your own high and lows. Cassie is a lovely girl, and she loooooves biscuits!! 🍪

The gorgeous Blue Merle Hudson had a quick shoot on Sunday morning at Beecraigs. I want to say he was perfect... but yeah he was perfect! His mum Jo Booth has him trained amazingly and I had all the time in the world to sit and photograph him whilst he sat like this. It’s like he was made for the camera! 📷
I’ve kept the mood dark and grey, to bring out Hudson’s beautiful markings and his striking eye colour. Most of my local clients chose Beecraigs.... It’s beautiful woodland surroundings and multiple backdrops to chose from!

This was a weekend full of firsts for me!
Meet Sam, a handsome Lurcher who came to me to have a special photo shoot with just him, and his family. I’ve had the pleasure to meet and photograph his sister Newt, and his owners wanted to book him in to have a shoot on his own - to let him steal the show and capture how special he is. He was a lovely boy, and I was drawn to his eyes immediately.
... He was my first ever Lurcher to photograph, and my first ever ‘abandoned building’ type photo shoot with some awesome graffiti in the background. It was so cool!! I loved this idea, and would love to do more shoots like this in the future!

I’ve always really loved and admired Whippets, and today for the first time I got to photograph one!! I could not tell you how excited I was.
There is something so elegant and gentle about Whippets, and I really wanted to try and capture this. Olive’s family have had her since she was born, and have also had generations of her breed line before her, which makes her even more special ❤️

I’m going to start doing before and after photographs each week, to let you take a look into what is possible with animal photography!
Would you love a canine or equine shoot, but feel like you’d never get your animal to sit still? Does your dog need to be kept on a lead, or even a harness when outside? I can work around pretttyyy much anything! 📷
... Most items can be removed during the editing part of the process. Keeping your animal safe and happy is always my top priority, so taking the time to edit leads and harnesses are never a problem!
For Equine shoots, all I need is a stable, barn or even a field shelter with a little bit of natural light. Horses can have tack, leather head collars and lead ropes on for their shoot, and I can edit out any hands, faces or figures around them to give it this gorgeous finish!

Fern is booked into see Charlotte at the weekend, and I can’t wait for my dog to get a little TLC for a change!

This little button had her shoot on Sunday with me, and I fell in love with her little face. She is just gorgeous! 😍Indie was a little star for her shoot on Sunday, which was a Christmas gift to her mum! I had to pick her preview photo as a face shot to show everyone just how beautiful that little face is!
Also a huge happy birthday to her mummy Eilidh Kempton today! ❤️

Rocco had his 1st photoshoot done with Frankie from Barker and Hound, We all loved it, it was a great bonding experience with the puppy and we got some fantastic shots of him. Frankie made him (and us) feel at ease, you can tell this is her passion and she’s great at what she does. We hope to have another shoot in the future when Rocco is fully grown. Thanks again xx

George and I had a great winter shoot with Frankie and she captured some amazing photos. We have been friends since we were kids but this was her first time meeting George and she was fantastic! From the minute she said ‘Hi’ he instantly fell in love. Frankie’s laid back, calming nature and clear love for animals shines through her pictures and I couldn’t recommender enough!!!
