Barr Cottage

Beautifully refurbished, tranquil, self-catering cottage (sleeps 4) on the former Home Farm of Minard Castle. Captivating views towards Loch Fyne and the heart of Argyll countryside. Enjoy the peace & quiet of Scotland in a stunning setting.

Barr Farm was built in 1843, originally it was the home farm for nearby Minard Castle.
Victoria and John bought Barr Farm in 2012, embarked on extensive renovation of the main house and completed Barr Cottage in 2015.
Barr Cottage has two spacious double bedrooms, a family bathroom including a double ended bath with rain shower over, a large dining kitchen with newly fitted units including a built in oven, microwave, fridge freezer and a separate ceramic hob. There is a dishwasher and washing machine to help with those essential chores.
The dining half of the kitchen diner has views over the cottage garden and hills beyond, with a window seat for bird and wildlife spotting.
The cosy sitting room has a multi-fuel stove for relaxing evenings in the glow of a real fire. Entertainment options include a 32 inch flat-screen television with a Freeview package, DVD player and digital radio. There is a selection of indoor and outdoor games. The sitting room has views across the farm, down the Loch and of the Cottage patio and garden.
Barr Cottage is fully centrally heated via combi-boiler with hot water on demand. It has double-glazed sash windows and is highly insulated, keeping it snug in the winter and cool in the summer.
Outside there is a patio / barbecue area with a raised bed kitchen herb garden for the cooks amongst you. The cottage garden is mostly lawn with access to larger lawn area for badminton, croquet, ball sports or picnics.
Barr Cottage also boasts a wonderful array of garden and woodland birds. We are occasionally visited by red squirrels and pine martens and there are buzzards, sea eagles, otters and deer in the forests and lochans around the farm.
There is ample parking for cars and space for a boat /trailer, we also have secure storage available for your mountain bikes and / or kayaks leaving your car clutter-free for day trips.
The fields around Barr Cottage are part of a working sheep farm so regrettably we cannot accept pets. However, if you visit us in the Spring you will be able to watch the lambs explore their new surroundings.
